OMCA's Open Space Advisory Committee has scheduled an open meeting and encourages members who are interested in the current and future use of CA's open space to attend.

The January 18th meeting will focus on CA playgrounds and we welcome creative ideas for future use of these spaces.

Brigitta Warren Hired as New Village Manager
The Oakland Mills Community Association Village Board is pleased to announce the selection of Brigitta Warren as the next Oakland Mills Village Manager.

Brigitta brings twelve years of experience working for the Oakland Mills Community Association as an administrative/board assistant, and event and facility coordinator. Prior to her work in Oakland Mills, Ms. Warren had experience as an executive assistant in non-profit organizations, and served on boards of non-profit organizations including serving as President of Cradlerock Elementary School PTA and President of the East Columbia Preschool Co-Op. She chaired the Columbia-wide Columbia Home Tour and several joint Columbia village events. Brigittta's children attended schools within the Oakland Mills cluster, and they and her husband can frequently be found volunteering at Oakland Mills community events.
 
The Village Board looks forward to working with Brigitta when she officially assumes the Village Manager position on January 27th. We also thank our outgoing Village Manager, Sandy Cederbaum, both for her 20 years of service and for the transition process she has planned as she heads into her well-deserved retirement.
OMCA Elections Committee: Seeking Members
OAKLAND MILLS 2023 VILLAGE ELECTIONS!

Please consider volunteering for this very important and short-term opportunity to serve your cOMmunity!

Election plans are underway for the annual Oakland Mills Elections. In order for the elections to run efficiently we need residents to volunteer for the Oakland Mills Election Monitor Committee.
Committee members meet once prior to the election and assist with various aspects of elections which include serving as "poll workers" on election day on April 22, 2023, counting ballots, and ensuring that the election runs according to Oakland Mills election guidelines and legal documents.

Do you have a child who will be 5 years old by September 1, 2023? Attend an information session about Kindergarten in the Howard County Public School System. Childcare is available at each session for children ages 2 and older; the session is designed for adults only. Doors open at 6 p.m. to allow time for parking, childcare drop off and check-in. Ride RTA for Free for those 60 Years+
Did you know residents 60 years of age and older or persons with a disability can take the Regional Transportation Agency of Central Maryland’s (RTA) fixed route service for free? Individuals just need to complete a RTA Certified FREE Ride Card Application and submit it either via email or mailed or dropped off in person at the RTA’s Administrative Office. Once received, applications will be reviewed within 48 hours and the applicant will be contacted to have their picture taken for their RTA Certified Bus Rider ID, completed weekdays, Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM - 4:30 PM. The ID can be processed in five minutes while rider waits in the lobby or it can be mailed.

Yards Alive! is an exciting program established to educate by CA's Climate & Sustainability Committee and Oakland Mills residents about more sustainable landscaping practices. CA OPEN SPACE
50/50 SURVEY PROGRAM

Does your land abut CA Open Space? Then you could qualify to have CA pay for half of your home's boundary survey!

To ensure accurate installation of exterior alterations within your property boundaries, a survey of your property can be done. In order to assist with that effort and to prevent encroachments onto CA Open Space, the 50/50 Survey Program was created. CA now offers a discounted survey for community members who own property adjacent to CA Open Space.

The free little library is open to the public. While our OM librarian is away please feel free to continue to leave a book and take a book so that OM can continue to enjoy reading and sharing.
