Prepare for Success Thank You
Once again the Columbia Village Associations made a huge difference. If PFS is 24 years old, then it is 24 years of support from The Library.
We are appreciative of your historic and continued role in this community of neighbors who believe every child deserves a strong start. Your hosting of a collection box once again made a real difference.
Because of support like yours, Prepare for Success reached a record 5,300 students in 2025—our largest impact yet! That is 1,000 more students than last year who walked into school with a brand-new backpack and essential supplies, ready to learn.
PFS distributed supplies to 54 different schools or non-profit organizations. We estimate that the collected loose supplies yielded 1,000 of the stuffed backpacks.
To put the need in perspective: nearly 18,000 students in Howard County—more than 30%—qualify for Free and Reduced Meals, a key measure of economic hardship. Your partnership helps us meet that need in a tangible, life-changing way.
Thank you for standing with us again this year. You are an essential partner in this community-wide effort, and we are deeply grateful.

Beware of Door-to-door Sales Scams
Spring brings sales directly to your door. Always be wary of storm chasers, contractors with “extra” supplies, and solicitors who are “doing work in your neighborhood.” Everyone who knocks on your door to sell something should have a registration ID issued by the Office of Consumer Protection (OCP). If they can’t show you that license, contact the OCP immediately. To see what the license looks like, visit OCP’s “Peddling & Soliciting” website. Also see this info sheet on safely planning and executing your next home improvement project.

Help for High Prescription Drug Costs
Governor Moore announced expanded access to more affordable prescription drugs through an innovative partnership with SIRUM and Good Pill Pharmacy. According to the press release, "anyone with a Maryland mailing address who faces high prescription costs can receive their prescriptions from Good Pill, regardless of insurance status. Most prescriptions from Good Pill are available for $2 per month. To access the Good Pill pharmacy, Marylanders simply need to check the list of available medications, complete a one-time registration, and ask their health care provider to send their prescription to Good Pill. Prescriptions are typically available in 90 day supplies and are delivered to the patient’s home within 5-7 days". To read the complete press release from the Governor, click HERE.
