QIP Grant Awards
Congratulations to
these 14 new facilities for receiving the next round of Quality Improvement Project (QIP) grant for implementing the OMA program. Thanks to funding from the Ohio Department of Medicaid, they will join
40 other facilities certified to offer OMA. Staff members from these facilities receive OMA training and post-training support to replicate the program at their own sites and meet Ohio's QIP requirement. The next cycle to submit proposals for this funding will open on
January 15, 2018. Ohio nursing homes, both for profit and non-profit, with Medicaid certification may apply. Subscribe on our websiteto receive notifications.
OMA Training Expansion
Art for the Journey in Richmond, VA and Maryville University in St. Louis, MO have successfully trained 22 new OMA facilitators in November 2017. Trainees completed online instruction and an in-person practicum day in Richmond or St. Louis. Read more about the training successhere. Congratulations on job well done!
OMA Stories
Mimi Ash shared her story with us about the impact of OMA on her mother's life. "My mother's participation in OMA allows me to relate to my mother once again as an artist - to be able to see her as autonomous and to rediscover her creative core," she said.
Thanks to funding from Alberta Health Services, 32 new OMA facilitators were trained Alberta, Canada in May 2017. Ali Cada, Director of Adult Day Programs at the Alzheimer Society of Calgary, mentions the program has impacted more than 150 people so far. Many more will be served as these newly trained facilitators launch their programs. Read the full story here.
