This workshop will feature several topics during the day-long event, including citizen engagement, creating/preserving districts, how to create public spaces, how Oklahoma cities and towns are using I cent sales tax to fund capital improvement plans, and the Keep OK Beautiful "Paint for Projects." We will also provide an update about the 2019 Legislative Session.

2019 "If I Were Mayor" Essay Contest Winners Announced
The 2019 winners of the annual “If I Were Mayor” essay contest were recently announced in conjunction with the Mayors’ Council of Oklahoma (MCO) and the Oklahoma Municipal League’s (OML) Congress of Mayors event held at the state capitol.

The purpose of the essay contest is to provide an opportunity for students to begin engagement with their communities.  The MCO asks that the mayors in each community reach out to their 8th-grade students to discuss what the functions are of a mayor so that they can begin to understand how a community is led and to understand the vital role that mayors play. OML Board District 2 Call For Nominations
Deadline February 22nd
The OML District 2 Board seat has become vacant as of January 9, 2019 due to the Honorable Jason Nichols being elected as OML Vice President. Nominations will be received until Friday, February 22, 2019 and will be presented to the OML Board of Directors at their next meeting.
