Downtown Development Update

The redevelopment project for Herndon's downtown, which will bring retail and residential space to the historic downtown area, is continuing its forward momentum. At its Public Hearing on December 14, 2021, the Herndon Town Council approved a Memorandum of Understanding with the Board of Supervisors of Fairfax County to accept a grant from the Fairfax County Economic Opportunity Fund (EOR) in the amount of $5 million for the project. This new grant aligns with the town's commitment to Comstock, its development partner, to work in good faith to bring the project to fruition.

Comstock anticipates a groundbreaking in the spring. News on the relocation of Arts Herndon and temporary relocation of downtown parking will be announced shortly; bookmark the town's website for updates.

Corporate Service Award Nominations

Nominations are now being accepted for the Mayor's Distinguished Corporate Service Award, presented annually as part of the town's celebration of its volunteers. The corporate award recognizes firms that have made a significant contribution to the community through

commitment to the town and its promotion;
volunteer involvement in projects and events;
partnership with the town or other businesses, to the benefit of all; and
a historical practice of supporting volunteerism through employee volunteer hours, monetary support and more.

Nominations for the Distinguished Corporate Service Award are accepted through March 14. More info at Herndon-va.gov/VolunteerAppreciation.

Snow Removal Reminder

Snow removal contractors may not push snow onto town roadways; this is in violation of the town code. Please work with your contractor to ensure snow is removed properly and does not create a hazard for pedestrians and motorists. In the event of a snowstorm, visit the website for snow removal information in the town or follow us on Facebook.

Annual Business License Renewal

All business licenses in the town must be renewed annually, on or before March 1st. New this year: renewal applications may be emailed to revenue@herndon-va.gov. The town's Finance Office will respond with the amount due and a payment link.
