Thank you for your continued support and partnership. 2022 was another productive year for ONCAP: We invested in two new platform acquisitions (Merrithew and Ideal Dental) and completed eight add-on acquisitions with existing operating companies. ONCAP also completed a sale leaseback transaction of PURE Canadian Gaming’s real estate.

We also continued to expand our investment team, including significant growth in our New York office. Hampton Webb (Director), Tianyi Zhang (Senior Associate), David Weitz (Associate), and Madeleine McCann (Executive Assistant) joined Edmund Kim (Managing Director) in New York. Jamie Wood (Senior Associate) also relocated from Toronto to New York in 2022. In Toronto, we welcomed Aaron Laurito (Head of Talent), Victoria Witt (Associate), Alina Yao (Associate), Selina Johnston (Executive Assistant), and Victoria O’Neill (Executive Assistant). We are proud to welcome the newest members of the ONCAP team. 

Additionally, as of January 2023, Ryan Mashinter was promoted to Senior Managing Director, and Jason Levy to Principal. Ryan has been with ONCAP for 17 years, including eight years in the role of Managing Director and has contributed to nearly a third of ONCAP’s businesses. Jason has made a significant contribution to ONCAP’s success in his seven years with the firm and has worked on many new opportunities and several operating companies. 

Lastly, ONCAP continued to advance its efforts related to ESG, DEI and social engagement. ONCAP is working closely with Judy Cotte, Onex’s Head of ESG, to implement Onex’s ESG governance across ONCAP’s portfolio. The entire ONCAP team was also involved in several community building activities noted below.

The ONCAP team volunteered to prepare lunches for Fred Victor, a social service charitable organization that fosters long-lasting and positive change in the lives of homeless and low-income people living across Toronto. It was a fun team event and a great demonstration of how we can contribute to improving the lives of others in our community.

Daily Bread Food Bank, October 2022

The ONCAP team volunteered at Daily Bread Food Bank, a non-profit organization working towards long-term solutions to end hunger and poverty across Toronto by distributing fresh and shelf stable food and fresh cooked meals to member agencies and food programs across the city. As a team, we packed over 6 tons which will feed more than 485 families in need.
