ONCC Chair and Mount Prospect Mayor Arlene Juracek Receives the Walt Gillfillan Award
O’Hare Noise Compatibility Commission (ONCC) Chair and Mount Prospect Mayor Arlene A. Juracek was named as the recipient of the Walt Gillfillan Award on March 4, 2019 at the UC Davis Aviation Noise & Emissions Symposium held in Jacksonville, Florida. The award is presented annually to an individual or organization whose exemplary achievements and contributions to noise abatement in aviation deserve special recognition.

ONCC Technical Committee Chair Plans and Participates in Noise Symposium
ONCC Technical Committee Chair Catherine Dunlap participated in a months long planning committee to develop a workshop for anti- noise groups, including airport/community roundtables, on ways to improve the FAA’s community engagement for Precision Based Navigation (PBN). Some 15 community groups submitted comments which were discussed at the U.C. Davis Aviation Noise and Emissions Symposium which was held from March 3-5 in Florida. Read More
Technical Committee Update
The ONCC Technical Committee met on Tuesday, March 19, 2019. The Committee received an update on the Interim Fly Quiet Review from the FAA, a report on Noise Monitors, an update on the City of Chicago’s 311 System implementation. Ryan Anderson of Landrum and Brown presented suggested revisions to the ANMS Report, and the 2018 4th Quarter Fly Quiet Report.  Read More
Fly Quiet Committee Update
The Fly Quiet Committee met on March 22, 2019. CDA Consultants reviewed outstanding operational questions, the Fly Quiet 21 process and gave a presentation on Ground Movement during Fly Quiet.

The committee learned that ground movement, especially in the north airfield would impact the decisions on preferential runways and taxiways during the Fly Quiet hours. Read More
ONCC Members Attend Terminal 5 Groundbreaking

O’Hare Noise Compatibility Commission members, Joseph Annunzio, Catherine Dunlap, Dennis Ryan and Jeanette Camacho joined Mayor Rahm Emanuel, Chicago Department of Aviation Commissioner Jamie L. Rhee and airline officials at O’Hare International Airport for a groundbreaking on the first phase of a $1.2 billion expansion of Terminal 5. 

By 2021, the expansion of 25-year-old Terminal 5 will increase total building area by approximately 350,000 square feet, making way for new passenger amenities, airline lounges, concessions spaces and the capacity to serve more travelers more comfortably. Read More
