Smell The Moss
ONE Thing with April Claxton
Hi Fit School Friend!

Periodically, I like to introduce you to experts in a variety of arenas. I've asked that they each share just ONE thing that they think can make the biggest difference in your physical, nutritional, and/or mental health.

So, here we go. I introduce to you...

Among The Trees, April Claxton's ONE Thing
The One Thing!
My one piece of advice is to stop and smell the moss. Seriously! Especially right after the rain. Or maybe for you it's smelling a flower or cedar tree. Or maybe you touch the velvet leaves of thimbleberry, taste a blackberry or look up and watch the clouds. The point is to slow down and use your senses to notice and explore what's around you. For me, using these other senses is a way to get out of my head for a couple of minutes and also to connect in a deeper way to nature. It also reminds me to pause and slow down. To breathe deep and just be.
About April Claxton

I have a passion for place and love exploring, experiencing and sharing the beauty of the pacific northwest. I am also learning to slow down and am currently re-discovering the art of staring out to space now and then. I also love to share the practice of Forest Bathing: a conscious and contemplative practice of being immersed in the sights, sounds, textures and smells of the forest (where yes, we will take time to smell the moss). Through my company, Among the Trees, I will be leading two forest bathing walks this spring (more to come in the summer & fall) and am also hosting a Nourished by Nature retreat and would love to have you join us!
