PARTICIPANT BASICS
PARTICIPANT GUIDE

Bib Numbers

U.S. residents were mailed their Bib Number and Participant Guide in late March. International residents (including Canada) may pick up their bib number at the Boston 5K bib counter at the Expo on Friday, April 18 or on race day at the Registration Tent near the start area.

If you misplace your bib, or it gets damaged, a replacement bib will be issued at the Boston 5K bib counter at the Bank of America Boston Marathon Expo on Friday, April 18 or on race day at the Registration Tent near the start area. A government issued photo ID is required to pick up or replace your bib number

Gear Check & Wave Seeding

The Boston 5K presented by Harvard Pilgrim Health Care starts at 8:00 a.m. Gear Check will be available on Boylston St. between Clarendon and Berkeley - 0.5 mi from the Start Line.

Athletes will self-seed on race morning based on pace and bib number. If you are planning to run faster than a 9 minute per mile pace, seed yourself at 7:30 a.m. in Wave 1. If you anticipate running slower than a 9 minute per mile pace, seed yourself at 7:45 a.m. in Wave 2. Signage and announcements will direct you where to go.

As a reminder, participant shirts will be picked up after you finish.

Distance Medley Participants

Distance Medley Gear Check will be on Clarendon Street between Boylston and St James, available starting at 6:30 a.m. for DM participants only.

Please make sure to have your bib visible. Plan ahead as the gear check area is approximately 0.5 mi from the starting line. If you plan on using Gear Check, please make sure to use the gear check in the DM area specifically - post-race, the Distance Medley area will be immediately after you receive your water, food bag, and medal. This is where you can retrieve your gear bag and pick up your participant t-shirt.

This year's Boston 5K presented by Harvard Pilgrim Health Care will feature an all new course! Starting at Boston Common along Boylston Street, the course takes you through the Back Bay before going through Kenmore Square, up Hereford and ultimately crossing the finish at the Boston Marathon Finish Line on Boylston Street!
