We will be saying goodbye to ONEgeneration’s Assistant Director of the Adult Day Care Program, Denise Kee White.
Denise has been with ONEgeneration for almost 20 years. While we are very sad to see Denise move on to the next chapter in her career, we wish her the best and want to thank her for everything she has contributed to the organization. The ONEgen Family will miss you very much!

How long have you done this type of work?


This is actually my first time doing any type of case management work. In regards to working with seniors, I have previously volunteered at nursing homes, senior centers, but that is as much experience as I have had with this population.


 Why did you decide to work at ONEgeneration?

Prior to starting my position, I had heard of ONEgeneration but never considered working here as my educational background is in public health. I was in the process of completing my master’s degree when the opportunity for this position came up. After learning more about ONEgeneration, I felt my goals aligned with its mission and the work I would be doing as a case coordinator. I decided to apply for the Care coordinator position. I am glad I did as it has been an enjoyable experience thus far.


If you were not doing this job…then what else, would you see yourself doing?

If I were not doing this job, I could see myself working with other underserved communities and populations.
Fields of interests that I could see myself exploring include: community education; family studies; gender and women studies; lactation education; and emergency preparedness/management.

 
Where did you grow up?

I was born and raised in the San Fernando Valley. 
  
What is your favorite food and least favorite food?

 Considering I am not a picky eater, I enjoy trying new foods. If there is one food that I could have more often however, it’s mole, a Mexican dish. My least favorite food is blue cheese.


Something about you that most would not know about.

I completed the LA marathon in 2013. 

 
Do you have any hobbies? Or what do you do for fun?

I enjoy going for walks, cooking, and spending time with my family, particularly my daughters.
Spending time with my daughters is an enjoyable experience because even the simplest moments, can be an exciting and exploratory learning experience.


What are your favorite TV shows and Movies?

I do not have any favorite TV shows or movies, but currently I’ve been watching Disney, and Pixar movies. Overall, however, I like a variety of genres.
