ONEgeneration would like to honor the life of our dear friend and colleague Kit-Lan Chu who recently passed peacefully at the age of 99 years old. Kit genuinely cared deeply about helping others and inspired all those who knew her. Kit was a cherished employee who worked for ONEgeneration for 28 years before retiring in 2019.
Kit was born in China. After graduating from high school Kit enrolled in Lingnam University in Hong Kong as a medical student for two years until her family immigrated to the United States. Once in the US, Kit married Donald Chu, a free-lance motion pictures editor. After the birth of her three children, Nathan, Newton, and Genevieve Kit worked in customer relations at Union Bank for twenty years. Once retired, Kit started volunteering to give back to society.
Kit learned about ONEgeneration through the San Fernando Valley Chinese Culture Center who was partnering with the ONEgeneration congregate meal program. Later, ONEgeneration’s Nutrition Department hired Kit in a managerial role and later she would oversee the lunch desk at the Senior Enrichment Center. The key to her success was being a high energy, outgoing “people person” whose generosity was legendary.
We were so fortunate to have Kit as a valued staff member and friend. Her efforts to make ONEgeneration’s Senior Enrichment Center a better place for older adults will be felt for years to come.

Intergenerational Activities
In celebration of Veterans Day, children and their neighbors gathered to honor the veterans at the ONEgeneration Adult Daycare with a pancake breakfast. Together, they shared smiles and enjoyed a delicious meal, with the adults kindly helping the children by cutting their pancakes. The children also created cards for their veteran neighbors, decorating them with markers and stickers. As they created these messages of appreciation, they practiced their writing skills by adding messages like "Happy Veterans Day" and "You are a hero."

Through the program, an assessment of a customer’s home will be performed by a trained technician to identify what improvements could be made. The technician will then make the improvements and upgrades to the home for free! Examples include sealing windows to prevent a/c and heat leaks, changing out leaky shower heads, etc…

FINDING A SOLUTION TO A PROBLEM
a poem by Norman Molesko
This is when a situation arises
that causes you concern.
Don’t get unhinged.
Bring the facts into focus.
Stay determined,
on what is right.
Analyze as best as you can,
what you could do,
to lessen your stress.
If you could transform,
your problem into a challenge,
you could be on the way,
to reach a resolvable outcome.
So don’t succumb.
You can reach a resolvable outcome.
