Holiday SHARE (Sending Help & Real Essentials) Project
Thank you to all of the generous donors that helped over 280 home bound seniors and families from our Grandparents As Parents program ensure a happy holiday season. The seniors and families were overwhelmed by thoughtfulness of those in their community, one of the most rewarding aspects of this program is reminding our older adults that they are thought of, despite living alone without family in many cases. Thank you to the families, philanthropic groups, and employers who decided to participate this year and truly celebrate the time of giving!
If you were unable to adopt a senior this holiday, you are welcome to contribute to our programs and support a senior in need year round through your donation.
Happy New Year!
*The photo collage above shows images from ONEgeneration's Childcare in 2021 and the images below of our Adult Daycare staff and participants ringing in the New Year!
ONEgeneration would like to wish all of our community members a happy 2022! We know that we are still in the midst of the pandemic and the best way to protect yourself and your loved ones is to get vaccinated and boosted. Los Angeles County health officials are seeing a big jump in Covid-19 cases and hospitalizations as the highly transmissible omicron variant quickly spreads through Southern California! It’s time to take quick action and get #vaccinated if you have not done it yet or get your booster shot. For assistance please reach out to ONEgeneration’s Community Health Manager, Haley Rudas at 818-639-1090.
Vaccinate LA Collaborative
ONEgeneration has partnered with Dignity Northridge Hospital Medical Center and other local community agencies to provide vaccination resources. To learn more about upcoming local vaccine clinics, click here or go to www.vaxlatoday.org.

FEELING POSITIVE RATHER THAN NEGATIVE

a poem by Norman Molesko
Feeling positive is the better way to be.
This can lessen your anxiety and your stress.
This can encourage you to function at your best.

So when you have feelings of negativity,
don’t let these feelings get you down.
Feelings of negativity can be turned around.
Sing with delight, “Good Feelings Is My Joy”.
These brief lyrics can interrupt negative feelings.
Feel positive. This is the better way to be.

Ways to Support ONEgeneration
While City and State funding for ONEgeneration Programs is minimal, the needs we strive to meet are increasing. Help us support seniors in our communities! We depend on community member donations to keep our programs running. We thank you for your generosity!
Your donation supports:

  • $5 Senior Center Classes
  • $10 Weekend Homebound Meals
  • $20 In-home services for frail seniors
  • $50 Care-giving Support Services
  • $100 Grab Bar Installation
  • $300 Month of homebound meals for a senior couple
Did you know that you can deduct charitable donations made in 2020 up to $300 if you take the standard deduction? The CARES Act gave individual taxpayers who take the standard deduction, the ability to also take a deduction if they made a donation to a qualifying nonprofit. This amount goes up to $600 for married couples filing jointly for donations made in 2021. This is a temporary incentive to encourage contributions to nonprofits hit hard during the pandemic.

To learn more, click on this link to an AARP article which explains the Care Act provision.
