Ann has been an active member of ONEgeneration’s Senior Enrichment Center for 15 years and teaches an acrylic painting class called Painting Without Fear every Tuesday. Her favorite classes to take are the dance classes, especially Zumba, which she has been attending for 12 years! Ann is a native Angeleno, born and raised in the city. She moved frequently throughout her childhood due to her father’s acting career, but her favorite place to live was Huntington Park, a wonderful community where she lived and taught for several decades.
Art has always been a part of her life, but teaching is her true passion. Ann has taught a wide range of ages and classes throughout her career. She taught preschoolers in the LAUSD preschool program, students at Cal State LA, and held various positions at St. Matthias, an all-girls Catholic school in Huntington Park, where she taught for 45 years! There, she developed a four-year art program, taught drama (putting on two plays each year), and taught English classes when needed. Read more here.
Join Ann’s art class, Painting Without Fear, in the OSEC Art Room every Tuesday from 10:00-11:00am.

Every Sunday at the Encino Farmers Market, volunteers are stationed at the entrance gates to assist visitors with market information, distribute EBT benefits, and warmly welcome attendees. These dedicated high school volunteers are members of the National Charity League, San Fernando Valley Chapter (NCL), and commit to serving as market volunteer Captains for a minimum of two years. Many of them have been with us from 9th to 12th grade.
As volunteer Captains, they support the Market Manager and fellow volunteers, beginning their duties before 7am! They operate on a rotating schedule, with each volunteer assigned to serve once a month.
We are immensely grateful for the NCL volunteers who enhance our market each week, particularly these 16 remarkable young women who are devoted to making a positive impact in their community.
Thank you to our current Volunteer Captains and to all those who have served us over the years! The Encino Farmers Market is open every Sunday, 8am to 1pm, we hope that you will stop by to say Hi!
| | Encino Farmers Market - Every Sunday 8am to 1pm | | | |
ONEgeneration would like to introduce our new Encino Farmers Market Manager – Natasha Levy. Natasha began this position last month. She originally began working with ONEgeneration as a volunteer in Reseda and Van Nuys. The job as the market manager came to her by chance while volunteering. After meeting with the Facilities Director, and volunteering at the farmers market- Natasha knew this position would be a fun and exciting one. Something very different than her previous jobs.
Natasha comes to us at ONEgeneration after 25 years of service at UCLA as an academic counselor, an admissions officer, a recruiter, and an office manager. Before UCLA, Natasha helped establish and run her family’s business – as a balloon decorator and lead sales rep in Northridge. Natasha earned her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from UCSD, and her Master’s degree in Education from UCLA. Natasha is a true extrovert and valley girl. She enjoys movies, doing Zumba, spending time with her husband, and hanging with adorable dogs. Especially shih tzus! Natasha has thoroughly enjoyed getting to know and work with the 100 plus vendors who participate in the market every Sunday from 8 am to 1 pm. As for her favorite items at the market so far – she loves the fish tacos, the bread, and the orange passionfruit juice. Next time you attend the Encino Farmers Market – please be sure to stop by and say hello to Natasha.

During the month of September, ONEgeneration celebrated Intergenerational Month with a variety of fun and meaningful activities designed to bring together children and older adults. Highlights included a special visit from the LAX PUPs therapy dogs, an exciting bubble show by Best Bubble Parties, a puppet show, and a hands-on sensory play experience.
In addition, participants celebrated Hispanic Heritage Month by breaking a piñata together, creating colorful Mexican folk art mirrors, designing a Latin American flag collage, and painting traditional papel picado. The month’s festivities also included a delicious pancake breakfast, creative Grandparents Day crafts, a collaborative gardening activity, and shared moments of reading and storytelling across generations.

The Grandparents As Parents Program of ONEgeneration recently honored Grandparents Day and National Kinship Caregiver Month with not one, but THREE celebrations across LA County — in Lancaster, Van Nuys, and Long Beach!
We celebrated the amazing grandparents and kinship caregivers in our community with gift cards, delicious food, fun activities, and lots of love.
Every day, our GAP team sees the incredible impact these caregivers have on the children in their lives — and we hope they always feel how deeply appreciated and valued they are.
| | |
On September 27th, the Grandparents As Parents - GAP Program at ONEgeneration and All For Kids came together to host a heartwarming Caregiver Appreciation Event for Kinship Caregivers in SPA 4!
In celebration of National Kinship Caregiver Month, we honored the incredible caregivers who give so much love, time, and dedication to the children in their care.
Guests enjoyed a delicious sit-down lunch, exciting door and raffle prizes, and a beautiful presentation recognizing each family individually. It was a day filled with gratitude, community, and celebration — and every caregiver left knowing just how valued they truly are.
| | In celebration of Grandparents Day ONEgeneration’s Childcare hosted a special cookies and milk social to celebrate our amazing grandparents this year. We wished a Happy Grandparents Week to all the amazing Nanas, grandmas, Omas, Abuelitas, Mimas, Grandpas Nonnos, Opas, and Pappys that fill our lives and love and joy. | | Expert Article - Medicare Annual Enrollment - AEP | | | |

The Annual Enrollment Period aka Annual Election Period or AEP runs from October 15 to December 7.
During this time, you can:
- Enroll in a Medicare Advantage HMO or PPO plan
- Enroll in a Part D prescription drug plan
- Change your Medicare Advantage plan
- Change your Part D prescription drug plan
- Enroll in a Medicare supplement plan (this usually requires health history questions unless your Medicare Advantage plan had significant changes or is closing 1/1/26)
Big changes in Part D and Medicare Advantage plans for 2026. Watch for and read your Annual Notice of Changes and any other correspondence that might show a change in how your drugs are being covered.
Part D plans will be further reduced from 16 plans to 12 plans in California. At this moment only 1 plan will continue to compensate agents and brokers for new business. That means most agents will no longer be assisting their clients in shopping for Part D for 2026. We are going to try to continue helping our Part D clients, but only if they are also clients for a Medicare supplement plan. Plan D rates are going up an average of 22% with one plan going up 242%. However, there will be 3 plans for less than $10/mo.
We see a cutback in the number of Medicare Advantage plans as well as a reduction in benefits on most plans for 2026. Several plans will be discontinued 1/1/26. Again, keep an eye out for notices from your carrier.
Exceptions. If you have any drugs that are being covered as an exception, you need to call your Part D or MAPD plan and determine if that exception will continue into 2026.
I will be holding several zoom meetings intended for my clients focused on Part D shopping for 2026 on October 4th, 6th, and 7th. I will be talking about the program I use to help my clients shop Part D as well as how anyone can shop on mymedicare.gov. If you are interested, please email info@pdinsure.com and ask for the zoom links or a link to the recording. I will not be talking about Medicare Advantage plans.

YOU CAN BE A WINNER
a poem by Norman Molesko
I contend that everybody is a somebody.
You may feel you are a somebody,
an important person or a lesser important person.
On the other hand, you may feel you are a nobody.
You may feel you are a partial or complete nobody.
Your feelings can and do fluctuate from time to time.
This depends on your moods and/or who you are with.
From my perspective, everybody is a somebody.
As a somebody, you can be a winner.
