Community Safety Proposal
The City of Spokane is seeking a community safety sales tax to fund new investments for Spokane Fire, Spokane Police, the Office of Police Ombuds, and Spokane Municipal Court. If approved this sales tax of $1 for every $1,000 that is spent in the City, would generate an estimated $6.5 million to replace outdated Fire equipment, relaunch the Neighborhood Resource Officer program and traffic unit, sustain evidence-based therapeutic courts, electronic monitoring, and increase Police Ombuds staffing.

City Returns to Level 1 Water Restrictions
River levels are recovering and are now over the 1,000 cubic feet per second minimum level. This moves the Drought Response Ordinance Measure back to Level 1. Remember, with cooler nights and shorter days in September, your landscape needs less water, so you can reduce your irrigation run-time and frequency. It’s also the perfect time to aerate, setting the stage for a healthier, more resilient lawn come spring. Learn more at
