ONU Monthly Newsletter
Greetings!
We hope you are starting 2019 off right and sticking to your New Year Resolutions!  With the onset of the New Year, our team here at ONU is more committed than ever to serve increasing numbers of veterans in our community helping them find their dream careers. A goal without action is only a wish. ONU is taking steps to achieve our goal by reaching out to veterans in our community, providing the training needed to succeed, and connecting them with employers. With the help of our amazing supporters, donors, and employers, we will accomplish our goal. So we hope you'll enjoy the ONU January Newsletter and the stories that highlight our efforts to serve the Veteran Community; including Compass for your Cause, Highly Employable Veteran, Success after Service, ONU Upcoming Events, and ways you can get involved!
Compass for your Cause
ONU is partnering with BBVA Compass to make an impact in the veteran community! BBVA Compass has designed an easy affinity program for organization like ONU that provides a simple yet continuous option to fundraise with little effort on anyone's part. How Does It Work? It's simple. Open a new account, add a new Visa debit card or transfer your direct deposit of $500 or more and with each qualifying transaction, BBVA will donate a minimum of 0.25% of your transaction to ONU at no cost to you!
Talk to your local BBVA Compass representative to set ONU as your charity using ONU's affinity code 137233. It's just that easy and what a great way to support our veterans just by doing your regular day to day transactions!
Highly Employable Veteran
Darius Vergara is a graduate of ONU's Cohort 27. He is charismatic, highly skilled, educated, and experienced serving 26 years in the U.S. Navy as a Healthcare Operations Officer. He has a Bachelor's Degree in Healthcare Management and a Master of Public Health. Darius recently completed a Human Resources Professional Certificate from Syracuse University and holds certification in OSHA 30 and HAZWOPER (Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response). Darius is seeking a career in Operations or Healthcare Management. Darius was sponsored through the ONU program through Black Knight. If you know of a business interested in finding a top notch candidate able to positively impact their organization and employees, please have them contact us to connect with Darius.
Success After Service
ONU's Finding the Uniform Program helps to change the lives of our veterans and the training we provide our veterans can catapult them into amazing new careers! One case in point is Paul Brodzik who served 9 years in the U.S. Army as a Provost Marshal. He has an M.B.A. in Data Analytics from the University of Southern Indiana, an M.B.A. in Organizational Security Management from Webster University, and a B.A. in Music Education from Michigan State University. Paul was seeking a career in Training and Development since January 2017 with no luck. In less than a month after graduating from ONU, Paul has accepted an offer from Yulista Aviation and will begin his new career as an Instructional System Design Analyst on February 4, 2019.
We proud of Paul and frankly all our Veterans and we remain committed to helping them find careers! Join us in celebrating Paul for his hard work and dedication to the concepts learned at ONU!
