The January Monthly Meeting is on Saturday, January 18, from 1:30-3:30pm at the Manchaca Branch, 5500 Manchaca Rd, Austin. APS Vice President Diana Conces will lead us in an all new workshop exploring the symbolism of doors. You should leave the workshop with one draft poem and the ideas for many more!

APS Member Profile: Brad Strahan
Bradley R. Strahan, Taught poetry at Georgetown Univ. for 12 years. 2002-4 he was Fulbright Professor of Poetry & American Culture in the Balkans. For 40 years he’s been editor/publisher of Visions-International . He has six books of poetry & over 700 poems published in: America,Texas Observer, Confrontation, Christian Century, The Hollins Critic, Poet Lore, etc. & many anthologies. His recent poetry book (2011), This Art of Losing , has been highly praised as has his latest about his year in Ireland “A Parting Glass” (2014). Both have been translated into French.

TOMORROW'S POETS TODAY celebrates poetry by youth, the poets of tomorrow. Please share this possibility of publication with any interested parties. The Anthology of Youth Poetry will be published in April 2020 – National Poetry Month . The deadline has been extended to January 31, 2020 . Kallisto Gaia Press Contemporary Poetry Chapbook Prize - 28-48 pages of contemporary poetry. Winner will receive $800, publication by Kallisto Gaia Press, 20 copies of the chapbook, $300 stipend toward travel to Austin for our release event, and up to 20 Advance Review Copies (ARCs) to be sent to reviewers and award sponsors chosen by the winner. Kaye Abikhaled included her books for download in Poetry SuperHighway’s Annual 24-hour Great Poetry E-Book Free-For-All, December 1, 2019.

Barbara Gregg's poem “Heaven’s Porch” is being published in Cenizo Journal in January (First Quarter) issue. This is a free Marfa quarterly newspaper for Far West Texas .

Bradley Strahan had 3 poems published in the Fall edition of the Lyric and one poem in the Cresset.
