Welcome Ruth Nott, Interim Chief of Operations
We are delighted to have Ruth Nott join the Opera Parallèle team as our Interim Chief of Operations. OP General and Artistic Director Nicole Paiement shares, “Having followed Ruth’s career for many years, I am impressed by her dedication to the community and her deep passion for opera. Ruth’s collaborative leadership and her generous spirit will help OP thrive as we move forward. We at OP are thrilled to have her on the team.”
Ruth has a distinguished career in the opera field with stints at many well-regarded opera companies and arts organizations in Chicago and New York City. Most recently, Ruth served as the Director of Education for San Francisco Opera, establishing its first department committed to community-building and arts education.

“I’ve been a big fan and participant of OP for quite some time, having attended the heart-wrenching Wozzeck in 2010, and had loads of fun performing in the chorus of Poulenc’s Les mamelles de Tirésias in 2014,” shares Ruth.

Regarding her new position at OP, Ruth says, “I’m thrilled to work with Nicole in her expanded role as General Director and excited about her vision for the company. Together, Nicole and I are not only poised for OP to survive these challenging times but thrive through teamwork and innovation. We’re climbing the summit to look across mountaintops and hear echoes of music abound.”
Meet Margie O'Driscoll & John Roevekamp OP's newest Board members
OP is excited to welcome Margie O’Driscoll to our Board of Directors. A native of the Bay Area, who spent most of her professional career within the arts and cultural life of San Francisco, she became hooked on opera after being introduced to it by her husband, musicologist Niels Swinkels.

When asked about what motivated her to join the OP board, she shared, “Artists and arts organizations are facing complex questions never before considered. If there was ever a moment for committed people to step forward and serve the arts, it is today.”

Margie is the mother of two college-age sons and has held leadership roles in many nonprofit organizations, including the San Francisco Arts Commission. She currently consults with local and national nonprofit organizations, including the Center for Design and Construction Industry.
OP is thrilled that John Roevekamp has joined our Board of Directors. John has over 40 years of business and musical experience making him an excellent fit for the Development Committee chair position. A 1990 graduate of UC Santa Cruz, John divides his career between artistic pursuits and his role as Co-founder and Chief Engineer of data-management software systems company Cyrun.

An accomplished singer and musician, John is a long time fan and supporter of OP. You may have seen or heard him singing tenor in one of many OP performances, including The Great Gatsby, Dead Man Walking, Mahagonny Songspiel, and Champion.

“Opera Parallèle brings a refreshing vitality, artfulness, beauty, and excellence to the San Francisco Bay,” says John, and he adds that he is excited to bring his experience to bear in helping OP grow and prosper.
