From Vermont’s Backyard – Locally Grown!

The Vermont Agency of Agriculture, Food, and Markets’ (VAAFM) mission is to facilitate, support and encourage the growth and viability of agriculture while protecting the working landscape, human health, animal health, plant health, consumers and the environment. VAAFM supports this mission through a variety of ways, including: grants, regulation, outreach & education, collaborative projects, and policymaking.

VAAFM works with the Department of Corrections (DOC) to increase the amount of local food purchased for use in state facilities. DOC purchases nearly 9% of all food purchases from local producers. This partnership helps DOC better understand the opportunities available for purchasing Vermont product. Buying in Vermont helps the economy and also provides an opportunity for consumers to eat fresher product- which is particularly important for our most vulnerable Vermonters.

Water Vendor Update
In April 2018, Crystal Rock LLC was awarded the Bottle Drinking Water contract, # 35787. A short time later, the company was acquired by DS Services of America.  This action required our office to work with DS Services of America to put in place a new contract.

We understand the critical nature of this service and want to assure everyone that aggressive steps are being taken to execute the new contract. We expect to have a fully executed contract within the next two weeks.

In the interim, we are providing DS Services of America Point of Contact information should you need assistance.
