The Last of the Blonde Bombshells

After Elizabeth's husband dies, she begins to play her tenor saxophone again, and remembers when she was fifteen and a member of the Blonde Bombshells, an all-girl (with one exception) swing band. Accompanied by the exception and urged on by her grand-daughter, Elizabeth hunts up all the old members of the band and urges them to perform, and in doing so, learns more than she knew about the band.

March Art Gallery
Peggy Dressel
Peggy Dressel is both a fine arts artist and illustrator. As a watercolor and pastel artist, she has exhibited in galleries, museums and juried exhibitions where she has won many awards. Peggy is an elected member of the New Jersey Watercolor Society, Catharine Lorillard Wolfe Art Club, The Degas Pastel Society, the American Artist Professional
League and the Art Center of Northern NJ Watercolor Association.
Peggy's artwork will be on display at the Oakland Public Library for all of March 2024.

Located in nearby Morristown, NJ at 6 Normandy Heights Road, the Morris Museum is the second largest museum in New Jersey. The Morris Museum has several permanent exhibits, as well as special exhibits. For more information visit the museum’s website at morrismuseum.org. The Morris Museum pass allows 2 Adults and 3 Children to visit the museum free of charge. No reservations. Pass available on a first-come first-serve basis. Pass must be returned within 3 days of being borrowed.

Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow

Ms. Barbara will offer Preschool Story Time on the following Tuesdays in March: March 5th, March 19th, and March 26th at 11:00 am. Oakland children, ages 2 to 5, will be singing along to favorite songs and listening to stories. The story time will be held in the Library’s Story Tower. Registration is not required.
Tots Library Club is a program designed for the youngest library users, birth to 2-yrs.-old, and their caregivers. TLC will be held the following Thursdays in March: March 14th, March 21st, and March 28th from 10:30 to 11:00 am Each session begins with a brief meet-and-greet, with toys (yours or ours) available from 10:30 to 10:45 am, followed by a short segment of nursery rhymes, fingerplays, and songs. Registration is not required.
Terrific Two’s & Three’s! is a story time for two to three-year-olds, and their caregivers. Join us on the following Fridays in March: March 1st, March 15th, and March 22nd at 11:00 am for stories, songs and fingerplays. The program will be held in the Library’s Story Tower. Younger children will enjoy stories, songs and fingerplays. Registration is not required.

Ms. Christina and her wonderful “Jiggly Wiggly” music program will be in the Oakland Public Library on Friday, March 8th and Friday, April 12th from 11:00 to 11:45 am. The program will be held downstairs in the Library’s Meeting Room. Oakland children, ages 2 & up, and their caregivers, will enjoy music and movement activities. Registration is required for EACH session. Registration is now being taken for the March 8th session, and begins Wednesday, March 27th for the April 12th session.
