Bryan High staff and a student representative provided an update on their implementation of College & Career Academies and Pathways. The team shared an overview of each of their academies and student opportunities.
Before implementing College & Career Academies and Pathways, Bryan High had two academies: Urban Agriculture Academy and Transportation, Distribution and Logistics Academy. The Urban Agriculture Academy was the first in Nebraska to receive model status. Bryan High staff used their success and lessons learned from their other academies to begin implementing wall-to-wall academies.
As part of its expansion to a wall-to-wall academy school, Bryan High focused on professional development with staff to ensure student success. They focused on building teacher capacity and providing engaging professional development, creating a collaborative space for all. By teaming teachers within their academy, students see the benefits. The academic teaming has allowed for increased collaboration opportunities for students and staff.
Partnerships with local businesses have also been essential to the expansion. Eighty-four college and career guests have visited Bryan High to work with students. They are creating exposure and hands-on learning opportunities that benefit our students.
Bryan High will launch Cambridge, an advanced education diploma, in fall 2023.
