Here comes Summer, and with it lots of excitement for fans of the Kaffe Fassett Collective: just announced is a brand-new quilt design, Autumn Postcard. It's from the forthcoming Quilts by the Sea, the 25th title in Kaffe's patchwork and quilting series – and there's also going to be a Quilt-Along project to complete it running through this Autumn.

The Kaffe Fassett Autumn Postcard – wish it was here?
This is Autumn Postcard, a sensational 84in (2.13m) square quilt designed by Liza Prior Lucy of the Kaffe Fassett Studio. It's a new take on one of Liza's designs, inspired by a mid-19th Century Welsh quilt in the collection of London's Victoria & Albert Museum – here she is to explain the full story:
Not for the faint-hearted, this complex design is described as being for advanced quilters: it's a real feat of geometry and piecing, and features in Kaffe's new book, Quilts by the Sea.
Due to the complexity, the book will only give the fabric requirements and templates for this design. Full instructions will be available to download when you buy the Quilt Kit, which will include 141/8 yds (12.92 m) of fabric to create the quilt top and binding, along with full-size templates.
And Liza will be helping you along the way, with a series of eight videos plus additional tips and tricks, released during the Autumn as part of the Quilt-Along.
You'll have to be a little patient waiting for your 'postcard' from Kaffe: deliveries are due at the end of September, but you'll need to order by the end of this month so we can make sure we get you a kit. We're sure this one is going to be highly sought-after, so make certain you don't miss out!

Kaffe hits the beach for his landmark 25th quilting book
Due this Summer, Kaffe Fassett's Quilts by the Sea is the 25th title in the master of colour's patchwork and quilting series, which has travelled widely in search of inspiration and locations.
For this one Kaffe has pushed the boat out, with 21 new designs pictured on the southern coast of England, including the Colour Garden quilt seen on the cover draped over an old fishing boat hauled up on the pebble beach.
The book will be available from us from August 4th, along with fabric packs to make many of the quilts it features – make sure you pre-order your copy now.

We're the Kaffe Fassett Collective experts
We also stock Kaffe Fassett Extra-Wide Backing Fabrics to complete your quilt, and can advise you on selecting fabrics or substitutions where the quilts use out-of-print fabrics. Just phone or message us.

Still time to pre-order the Willam Morris Entangled Round-About Quilt Kit
Here's another fabulous quilt design – but again you'll need to be quick if you want to make sure of getting yours. The Entangled Round-About Quilt Kit is made from the Morris & Co Buttermere collection, inspired by the great designer and artist's works in the Victoria & Albert Museum Collection.
Designed by Linda McGibbon, the quilt makes up to approx 76in (1.93m) square, and includes all the fabric to complete the quilt top, plus binding fabric and full instructions. But if you need a bit more help, a Quilt-Along based on the quilt will start at the beginning of 2024.

Australian artist De Gillett Cox's ripper Ripples extra-wides
Looking for an extra wide backing that somehow combines both quietude and chaos, in a range of four colours that fills every need?
Look no further than the Ripples fabrics from Brisbane-based artist De Gillett Cox. Using the accidental runs, drips and textures spontaneously appearing in her original paintings, De has put together a layered collage both loosely geometrical and fluidly appealing.
Seamlessly repeating across 108in, these fabrics are ideal for any sewing project requiring subtle matching, but needing more impact than a solid colour!

More great styles from Australia and New Zealand
Whether you're a fan of native art or have just found yourself getting hooked on the BBC's new Ten Pound Poms Sunday night drama, we have fabrics from Australasia for you.
They draw on artworks by the Aboriginal peoples, and include some striking designs by Chern’ee Sutton, an award-winning, modern indigenous artist from the Kalkadoon people around the Mount Isa area in Queensland. These include the colourful Spirit of the Bush panel seen here.

A charming little Stylecraft summer crochet project
Making up to around 100x120cm, this blanket is the perfect addition to summer picnics in the park, and is made in a completely natural 60% bamboo/40% cotton yarn blended to give fantastic drape and handle.
A standard DK weight, and available in an extensive palette of sophisticated shades, the yarn is kind to sensitive skins, meaning it's ideal for baby garments, too..

We're used to all kinds of visitors here in the Henley Warehouse, from passionate quilters and committed crocheters to schoolchildren buying materials for projects – but even we get taken by surprise now and then.
This week, while we were packing for Quilts UK Malvern, our Holly brought in a little injured duckling she's nursing back to health, and everyone went totally soppy over it – even our mum Joy, the original Sew and Sew. But then she does call everyone 'duck' – apparently it's a Derbyshire thing.
Then Judy announced that, when the little mite grew up, it would look just like Philip Jacobs. We all scratched our heads – we really couldn't see the resemblance...
Sensing our confusion, Judy headed straight for the fabric shelves, and came back with a bolt in her hands and a smile of triumph on her face. 'There,' she said, 'See what I mean?'
One look at the duckling, and she'd immediately thought of Philip's Secret Stream collection, and this design called Quackers.
We often think she must dream in fabrics, too...
