HURRICANE HELENE UPDATE

IT TURNED OUT TO BE GOOD!

These are the men who received the Lord!!

NORTH CAROLINA, MARION - The following is God's blessing.

Hey Brother Jan,

Thank you so much for your ministry and the ministry of Operation Renewed Hope. ORH connected us with the Bare family, a Christian family who owns a farm/nursery in Marion, NC. Their nursery was almost completely wiped out by Hurricane Helene, and they are in danger of losing their family farm. Our team of 5 men spent several days with a skid steer, chainsaws and other equipment cutting away the nursery trees that were destroyed by the storm and helping the family clean up and repair not only their office but the building that housed their 16 migrant workers from Mexico (all Catholic but one). Chad and Cassandra Bare were very burdened that God would use this difficult trial to allow them to show Christ to their migrant workers and share the Gospel with them. Our last day with them, our team provided a pizza lunch for all the migrant workers on the farm, and I had the privilege of preaching through an interpreter the glorious Gospel of Christ to all of these migrant workers. During the storm all of these migrant workers were very close to death as they were all trapped in a second story room in the medal building where they stay, with water flooding their building from all sides. I shared with them in my message that if the water had risen 10-12 more feet or the building had collapsed all of them would have been swept away by the storm. They listened attentively for 30-40 minutes as I shared the Gospel. After my message our team left to come home. Later that evening I received a call from Cassandra sharing with me this amazing story. She said a couple from her church provided dinner for her family and all the migrant workers and God laid it on their hearts to bring each worker a Spanish Bible. After dinner, 8 of the migrant workers started asking her and Carlos (the one Christian migrant worker) questions about my message. After looking up a number of verses and answering their questions about my message, 8 of the migrant workers from Mexico prayed and asked Christ to save them! I and our team members were in tears as we realized how God could use our simple efforts of helping this family and preaching the Gospel to bring lost souls to Christ. Cassandra later sent me this text, "They all accepted Christ tonight. It's okay to lose it all to gain it for Him. Praise the Lord! Thank you, Jesus".

I'm both humbled and honored to have had the privilege to minister to this family during a great time of need and to preach the Gospel to these migrant workers. Praise the Lord for all He did through our short 4-day trip. Attached is a picture of me preaching the Gospel after lunch and another one of the 8 guys who trusted Christ. Thanks again for your ministry.

For the sake of the gospel,

NORTH CAROLINA / SWANNONOA - ORH's dear friend Pastor Alan Jenkins, Nehemiah's Network, was able to travel to Swannanoa to determine the level of destruction there. He helped ORH deliver $1000 to Pastor Bruce Robinson.

The situation there is very bad, and restoration teams are needed. Pastor Robinson is currently trying to restore his home and also help others. He reported that his aunt had lost everything and needed a great deal of help in restoration.

Pastor Jenkins sent pictures to give a good idea of the great need. Please pray work teams are needed.

TENNESSEE - Daniel Jones, ORH Director, sent the following report about an elderly couple in his neighborhood that were deeply impacted by the flooding of Hurricane Helene. By your giving, ORH was able to help the family.

"Jim and Tula Warren experienced a disaster in their yard and basement when Roan Creek flooded because of Hurricane Helene.

PUMPING THE BASEMENT

Videos of Workers Pumping and Cleaning

The flooded creek left a basement full of water and mud approxi-mately a foot deep.  ORH was able to purchase a water transfer pump to help remove the water, and a team of volunteers from Calvary Baptist Church in Greenville, Michigan, worked for two days to remove all the mud and belongings from the

basement.   Jim and Tula were very grateful for the help."

Continue to pray for the work so people can be helped souls saved, and churches strengthened. We still need work teams, especially people able to sheetrock walls.

Please be in Prayer for the following churches which have been damaged.
