Oregon Response to Instruction and Intervention is proud to partner with the University of Florida Literacy Institute (UFLI) to bring you this in-depth look at the UFLI Virtual Teaching Resource Hub! The materials on the UFLI Hub were created to assist teachers as they explore new ways to teach foundational reading skills using technology, including live teaching during distance learning via videoconferencing platforms (e.g. Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, etc.), asynchronous instruction with prerecorded videos, or in the classroom with interactive whiteboards. These live sessions, provided by UFLI staff, will include demonstrations and videos, and you will learn how to use the many free, downloadable tools and resources. Attendees will also have the opportunity to ask questions.
The K-2 session (Tuesday October 6th, 2:30 – 4:00 PM) will highlight the tools designed for planning and implementing reading instruction and intervention in the primary grades. This session will focus on teaching phonemic awareness, letter-sound correspondences, decoding and encoding, and reading connected text.
The 3-6 session (Thursday, October 8th, 2:30 – 4:00 PM) will focus on planning and implementing reading instruction and intervention in the intermediate grades. This session will focus on decoding and encoding, with an emphasis on syllables and morphemes, as well as reading connected text.
Sessions will be presented via Zoom. Registrants will receive the link to access the session prior to October 6th. If you are unable to attend the live training, sessions will also be recorded and readily available on the ORTIi website following their completion.
