DONATE FLOWERS FOR SUNDAY WORSHIP
Click here to sign up for a Sunday
The church is open for worship on Sunday mornings and we have beautiful flowers in front of the pulpit again! Would you like to give the flowers one Sunday - in memory or in honor of a special person or event? I find it quite meaningful every Sunday to read the flower message. Due to the COVID economy the price has gone up to $100. Please send you message along with your payment. You can drop it off, send a check, or click here and make your gift online. While worship was all-virtual we supported Allston Brighton Food Pantry with “in lieu of flowers” donations. Our support of this important ministry will not end. As we return to taking donations for Sunday flowers, other collections will be given to the Food Pantry.

STEWARDSHIP: AN EPIPHANY
ANNUAL PLEDGING
As we look forward to January, Stewardship Month at Old South Church, we ask you to consider what you can pledge of your financial resources to fuel our 2022 ministries of Mercy, Justice & Beauty. Following the journey of the Magi, we each take our turn, bearing our own gifts for the Christ child as we, too, STEP INTO GOD’S FUTURE. Click here to learn more about Old South's Finances. If you are ready, click here to make your pledge!

PLANNED GIVING: THE MARY NORTON SOCIETY
Is one of your New Year’s resolutions to make (or update) your will or other planning documents? Whenever you sign a new Will or trust, please consider making a bequest to help Old South maintain its building, staff, and programs after you are no longer with us. As with weekly or annual giving, no amount is too small, or too small to have an impact. What’s right is the amount that makes you feel good about your gift. Questions? Email Helen McCrady.
COVID PRECAUTIONS
As we are all aware, COVID has not gone away. We need to be extra cautious through January. Between now and then the virus will be relentless. Here's our thinking at Old South Church, although we reserve the right to pivot on a dime, depending on the virus:

  • We will remain open daily for visitors.
  • Masking is mandated, as is social distancing. Do upgrade any cloth masks to at least a three-ply surgical mask.
  • If you have so much as a sniffle, do not enter the building.
  • We encourage you to get tested as often as possible, or as often as necessary, considering your circumstances and the availability of tests.
  • We are suspending ensemble singing and congregational singing through mid-February.

JAZZ WORSHIP – Thursdays at 6 p.m.
We will continue to be hybrid (both in person and remote; masking and social distancing; congregational singing will be curtailed).

ALL CHURCH WORSHIP – Sundays at 10 a.m.
We will continue to be hybrid (both in person and remote; masking and social distancing; congregational singing will be curtailed, as will the presence of vocal ensembles).

OTHER PROGRAMMING AND MEETINGS
We expect most of our other programming (meetings, classes, small groups) to go remote for the month of January. Church School families should check their Friday newsletter from Kate for details on children's classes. Stay tuned. Stay safe.

OLD SOUTH MICRO COMMUNITIES
In an effort to help our community stay well connected, build new friendships, and weather the isolation of the winter season, we are once again creating groups of 4-5 people who each week will have a question to discuss over text or email. This year our discussion topics will be more spiritually based and groups will be encouraged to gather (in person or online) for an initial "getting to know you" session. We'll kick this off  the week of January 16th and run through April 9th, the beginning of Holy Week. Sign up here and you'll hear from us the second week of January introducing you to your micro community!
