OSHA Issues Violations at
Saint Michael's Medical Center
JNESO contacted OSHA in April regarding several Safety & Health issues. OSHA performed site visits between April - October issuing the first Citation and Notification of Penalty to SMMC for the following:
  • The employer did not report within eight hours the death of an employee resulting from a work-related incident.

  • The employer did not record each work-related fatality, injury, and illness case that met the general recording criteria on the OSHA Form 300 or equivalent.

  • Employee(s) using tight-fitting facepiece respirators were not fit tested whenever a different respirator facepiece (size, style, model or make) was used.

  • The employer did not select a NIOSH-certified respirator.
Several more complaints continue to be under investigation by OSHA. JNESO will keep members informed of the outcome of these situations. Please report anything you feel might be a Health & Safety Violation.
