Prioritizes On-Site Inspections
This Direction establishes a National Emphasis Program (NEP) to ensure that employees in high hazard industries or work tasks are protected from SARS-CoV-2 (the virus), the cause of COVID-19, through inspection targeting, outreach, and compliance assistance. The goal is to significantly reduce or eliminate worker exposures to COVID-19 by targeting industries and worksites where employees may have a high frequency of close contact exposures.
On March 12, 2021, the enforcement response plan prioritizes the use of on-site workplace inspections or remote methods during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

CDC COVID-19 Updates
Recent updates from the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) address changes in COVID-19 cleaning/disinfection recommendations. New research has found that the chance of being infected with COVID-19 from surface contact is 1 in 10,000. As a result of this extremely low transmission rate, the CDC now recommends that routine cleaning with soap or detergent, at least once per day, can substantially reduce virus levels on surfaces. When focused on high-touch surfaces, cleaning with soap or detergent should be enough to further reduce the risk in situations when there has not been a suspected or confirmed case of COVID-19 indoors. Cleaning Protocols for suspected or confirmed cases still require immediate cleaning and disinfection.

Employers Must Post Injury/Illness Summary
Through April 30
Each year, employers are required to post a copy of OSHA Form 300A from February 1 through April 30. The summary must be displayed in a common area where notices to workers are usually posted. Businesses with 10 or fewer workers and those in certain low-hazard industries are exempt from OSHA recordkeeping and posting requirements.
