2025 Convention Edition

Cathy Tenney, Editor

Every DKG member is invited to this year’s OSO State Convention. The weekend’s meetings and activities hold the promise of that genuine spiritual fellowship which is one of the key purposes of DKG. As announced, the convention will take place at Deer Creek State Park starting on Friday evening, April 4, thru Saturday afternoon, April 5.  While our registration table will open at 3:00 p.m., Friday’s Opening Session is scheduled to begin at 6:45 p.m. This allows you ample time to arrive, explore the trails in the park, or enjoy a leisurely dinner at the lodge’s Rafter’s restaurant. At the Opening Session, we will hear the latest updates from our International representative and of course, we want to recognize first-time attendees. A little later at the reception, there will be an opportunity to participate in getting-to-know-you activities, enjoy an evening dessert, renew friendships, and make new DKG friends from around the state.

If you are arriving Saturday, the registration table opens at 8:00 a.m. Saturday morning’s breakfast will be on your own. There’s a coffee station in the lobby area and of course, you may wish to have breakfast in the restaurant which opens at 8:00 or maybe pack some goodies from home. At 9:00 a.m., all convention attendees are welcome to the OSO Executive Board Meeting followed by the General Session with election of officers for the 2025-2027 biennium. A special Celebration of Life Ceremony is planned.

The Birthday Luncheon is always a favorite event and this year we will celebrate OSO’s 87th Anniversary. Once again, the luncheon is sponsored by ADSOEF which will give you an opportunity to donate to this very worthy Ohio organization. If you have served as president of your chapter, you’ll remember how special it was to be introduced at the convention. Will you be there to support and applaud your current chapter president in the Parade of Presidents? There might also be a few surprises for President Melodie McGee that day as well. We’ll end our weekend together with the installation of our 2025-2027 OSO officers and a congratulatory receiving line. The cost for Convention is $48.00 which includes lunch at $24.00. Even though it’s a shortened convention schedule, there’s time enough to celebrate our membership in the Delta Kappa Gamma Society International.

Lifelong Learning Sessions

In conjunction with 2025 OSO State Convention, traditionally we had breakout sessions. With a shortened format at Deer Creek, this year we will continue sessions via Zoom. This is exciting because we learned during Covid, members were glad they could participate in so many sessions, not having to choose just three or four.

Valued OSO DKG members are willing to share their knowledge and expertise for our sessions. See the partial list below.  You will be able to take advantage of multiple learning sessions via Zoom over the months starting in mid-January through mid-May on Tuesday or Thursday evenings starting at 7:00 p.m. We anticipate the list expanding. Monthly, Cathy Tenney, our OSO Editor will provide electronic communications giving descriptions of presentations with dates to help you choose those you can attend. It will be necessary for you to register using the links that are provided for each event. Then It will be your responsibility to log into Zoom on the correct date and time to participate in the presentation.

Oh my, the opportunities for learning are so great! Thank you presenters!
