OSP Announcements
OSP Form Required for Participant Support Expenses
OSP has implemented a required form that must be attached to any participant support costs. This form provides the guidelines for charging as participant support.   This form is required to be attached in Workday to the expenses transactions (the P-card and/or Purchase Requisition). One form per event may be used to justify the detail of expenses. If you have a list of participants, please attach.

Guidelines for Participant Support Costs
Some contract and grant sponsors include a budget category called 'participant support costs' which are defined as direct costs for items such as stipends or subsistence allowances, travel allowances, and registration fees paid to or on behalf of participants or trainees (but not employees) in connection with meetings, conferences, symposia, or training projects. These costs are allowable with the prior approval of the awarding agency.

Participant support is allowed by a number of contracts and grants awarded by the U.S. Department of Education, the National Institutes of Health, the Office of Naval Research, NASA, and the National Science Foundation (NSF), including the NSF Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) programs. Since guidelines vary from sponsor to sponsor and from program to program, it is important to refer to agency and program-specific guidelines. You may also contact the Office of Sponsored Programs for assistance with agency guidelines,  [email protected] , 702-895-1357.

The UNLV Office of the Controller website provides additional participant support cost guidance (i.e. Who is a Participant?; What are Participant Support Costs?; How to Process Payments for Participant Support Costs; Stipend; and Reimbursements).

For any expenses charged to an award, you must complete this form to attach to any purchasing card or purchase order charges.

NSF Helpful Tips for Principal Investigators and Co-Investigators
When you are considering requesting a No-Cost Extension, neither the Outcomes report nor the Final report should be submitted before the NCE request. Make sure OSP submits your NCE request first before uploading any reports.

Broad Agency Announcement

DARPA: Information Innovation Office (I2O) Office-wide

Abstract Due: 7/18/19
Proposals Due: 8/30/19

This Broad Agency Announcement (BAA) seeks revolutionary research ideas for topics not being addressed by ongoing I2O
programs or other published solicitations. Potential proposers are highly encouraged to review the current I2O programs ( http://www.darpa.mil/about-us/offices/i2o ) and solicitations ( http://www.darpa.mil/work-with-us/opportunities ) to avoid proposing efforts that duplicate existing activities or that are responsive to other published I2O
solicitations.

I2O seeks unconventional approaches that are outside the mainstream, challenge accepted assumptions, and have the potential to radically change established practice. Proposed research
should investigate innovative approaches that enable revolutionary advances in science, technology, devices, or systems. Specifically excluded is research that primarily results in evolutionary improvements to the existing state of the art.
Request for Proposals

2019 Global Breast Cancer Competitive Grant Research Program

LOI Due: 10/15/19

Invite investigators from across the globe to submit innovative research proposals focusing in hormone receptor positive metastatic breast cancer and metastatic breast cancer. In addition incorporation of the following into the proposed clinical study would be of interest: a correlative/ biomarker component using paired biopsy samples (e.g. pre- and post-treatment), cfDNA assessment, predictive signatures beyond gBRCAmut in advanced breast cancer (such as tumor BRCA/PALB2mut or HRD), or PK/PD biomarkers to explore potential mechanisms of resistance/ response or synergistic effect.
