Reminder Proposal and Review Deadline
The spring semester close and graduation are rapidly approaching and this is when OSP experiences an increase of proposals as faculty begin to look forward to vacation and writing more grants. Please remember that we have a five-day Proposal and Review deadline. Please inform your Research Administrator, Pre Award as soon as possible when you are considering to submit. OSP will always try to assist with submitting your proposals prior to the sponsor deadline and we are unable to guarantee compliance, proposal packet review, or even submission if OSP receives your proposal with less than < 5 days of the deadline.
New Resources Available
OSP has created several new Checklists for your use on sponsored programs and for gift-funded research. The three resources pdf download links are included below and will be made available on the OSP website soon.
UNLV Research that is funded via a gift is subject to the same regulatory requirements as sponsored programs. This checklist is designed to help researchers determine where to locate additional guidance so they may comply with the regulatory constraints.

OSP has always worked with the Foundation to administer these gift-funded research that had compliance components and set these gifts over for OSP oversight.  After a recent review, this has created challenges for the PI and the administration of a gift through OSP. The new Gift Funded Research - Compliance Checklist is to assist faculty with compliance guidance resources and who to contact. This will also allow these research gifts to be managed and administered as a gift by the faculty PI through the Foundation as intended. This will limit the duplication of documents and requiring OSP to administer the award as a grant in Workday. For any faculty PI who has received or may receive a research gift, please use this new Compliance Checklist.
The PI Checklist provides guidance on Principal Investigator Roles and Responsibilities for the identification of funding, preparation of a proposal, submission of the proposal, awarding of the proposal, and administering the funding grant. It is meant to supplement the extensive Roles and Responsibility Matrix. It provides PI responsibilities and administrative contacts for different areas of pre and post awarding of grants.
Submitting proposals, executing awards, conducting research, and administrating sponsored projects involves many different people and units throughout the University. While there may be some minor variations in processes among departments and colleges, the matrix outlines the general process and identifies the appropriate party that has primary responsibility and secondary, if applicable, for different activities throughout the life cycle of a sponsored award.
