Oregon’s AAPA House of Delegates representatives, Andrew White, PA-C, and Vanessa Landis, PA-C, recently attended the AAPA Leadership and Advocacy Summit in Washington, D.C. (September 18th – 20th).
They met with staff from Senators Ron Wyden and Jeff Merkley and Representatives Suzanne Bonamici and Maxine Dexter to advocate for federal legislation that improves access to care and removes outdated barriers to PA practice.
Key bipartisan bills discussed included:
- H.R. 3170: Allows PAs and NPs to treat injured federal workers under FECA.
- H.R. 1616 / S. 1805: Authorizes PAs and NPs to certify Medicare patients’ need for diabetic shoes.
- S. 717: Permits PAs and NPs to order cardiac and pulmonary rehab services for Medicare patients.
OSPA will continue to monitor progress and share updates as advocacy efforts move forward.
