OST Symposium

Dear OST Community,

Thank you for joining us at the Foundry for the 2024 OST Symposium!

Check out our recap video and feedback from participants below. Many thanks to our workshop presenters and the STEAM Initiative for filling the Foundry with OST wisdom and ideas to interact with and explore, helping us think more critically and be more intentional about the work we do serving the young people of Cambridge.

I am proud of what we built this year and

I'm excited for all of the possibilities we can bring to life together at our next OST Symposium. Have an idea? Let's connect!

Your OST Learning Institute Coordinator,

Ashley

Creative Focus: Inspiring Youth Through Art And Creativity

"It’s so important to make creative spaces with no bounds and limits. It is an act of love and promotion of self-exploration to give young people spaces to create where they don’t have to accomplish what you want instead what they feel to do!"

Makerspace: Let's get Messy

"I will be able to create proper maker spaces for my youth center, being able to balance structure and freedom to create ideal environments for young people to productively express creativity,"

Will you put into practice any of the new ideas, content or knowledge in your job and/or OST program?

"Makerspaces, I’ve already incorporated into my youth work. Voice lessons, I work with a teen at my program on voice strengthening and can utilize the strategies I learned. Strength training, seems like an amazing physical activity to run with young people who don’t consider themselves athletic. The stress workshop?? Oh my goodness don’t even get me started. And the art through identity, I literally ran those activities the day after I attended the workshop. It’s just overall, we as youth workers are teeming with ideas and sharing our creativity and expertise with each other is so incredibly important."
