Lent

As we look toward Easter, the topic of Lent comes up. You may have heard of this, but not know exactly what it means. Lent is the 6 weeks preceding Easter and the death of Jesus Christ. This is a time of contemplating the sacrifice that Christ made when he died on the cross for the sins of mankind. 
 
The idea of “giving up something for Lent” is to identify with the suffering of Christ in some small way by giving up a habit or pleasure that appeals to us. Even though the idea has become somewhat secularized, it is still good to think about the sacrifice Christ made so that we can have eternal life. Our little denial of a fleshly pleasure is trivial in comparison, but is a symbol that we understand eternal life comes at a great price.  Jesus died for us – how are we living for Him?

Note: To increase efficiency and make it easier for our volunteers, we have changed the intake process for our participants from paper forms to an application that can be accessed on an iPad. Each police department now has an iPad for our volunteers to use. If you’re a previously trained Angel, please register for a Refresher Training session, which includes training for the iPad intake process.
