St. Patrick's Day

I think we all know that St. Patty’s day is coming up later this week but I bet many of you don’t know the amazing story behind this holiday. St. Patrick was a Christian Saint in Ireland credited with bringing Christianity to the country after escaping slavery there. His life most closely resembles the life of the apostle Paul. God radically met Saint Patrick in dreams and visions and equipped him to not only escape from slavery, but to go on to challenge the Druidic and pagan tribes of Ireland. Despite facing a very real threat of martyrdom, he experienced a revival of Ireland through his evangelism. It’s thought he used the three leaf clover to explain the Trinity to the tribes he witnessed to. He leaves behind a legacy of humility and courage that we should seek to follow after. So this holiday, instead of just wearing green or bringing a “lucky charm” to a party, may you be reminded that God met a 16 year old, radically changed his heart, and used his life to change the course of a nation.
