First Presbyterian Church of Port Huron
Organist
First Presbyterian Church of Port Huron is seeking a faith driven, skilled organist to play at our worship
services. The applicant should be an experienced and trained organist, able to play a traditional pipe
organ and familiar with traditional hymns and Christian music.
Our church’s mission is to know the Love of God, grow in the Christian faith and to go share our faith in
Jesus Christ. The musical program is a critical part of this mission with musical offerings closely tied to
messages and the supporting organ accompaniment enhances our congregations worship experience.
Our beautiful 137 year old church is located in historic olde town Port Huron and features an
acoustically pleasing sanctuary complete with a vintage pipe organ.
Important to our position is the ability to work cooperatively with the pastor and other musical support
staff to help integrate the music program with the preaching of the Word and prayer. The organist will
support choir practices and play for worship services, wedding, funerals and other church events. The
organist will have latitude to select appropriate music for the prelude, postlude, offertory and assist the
pastor in selecting hymns.
This is a part time salary position, with required weekly hours and salary commensurate with job scope
and candidate experience. Additional job scope possibilities include music director, choir director, piano
accompanist, bell choir director and contemporary musical team leader and are available depending on
candidate skills and interest.
