Pursuing Careers & Lives of Purpose - Spring 2023 Series
This spring the 4D team is hosting a two-part series for faculty and staff interested in engaging the 4D’s focus on “pursuing careers and lives of purpose.”
Workshop 1: Living Your Purpose
Wednesday, April 19, 4:00 – 5:30 p.m.
CCOM 1600
The first workshop will focus on “living your purpose,” allowing faculty and staff to reflect on and (re)define avenues toward finding meaning and purpose in their professional and personal lives. This will include engaging in a creative reflective exercise that involves participants imagining themselves as a gift. Through this process, they will connect to the 4D Experience by developing a personalized understanding of purpose in the context of their lives, identifying spaces and opportunities to lean into their purpose, and learning strategies for ongoing self-exploration and questioning that may help to center their purpose in their lives.
Workshop 2: Designing for Purpose
Friday, May 12, 10:00 – 11:30 a.m.
CCOM 1600
The second workshop will support faculty and staff in “designing for purpose” – that is, intentionally designing courses, programs, and other experiences to support students in pursuing lives of meaning and purpose. This workshop will include interactive activities, reflection, and opportunities to learn from and engage with others as we explore together what purpose means, when it emerges for our students, and how we might design for it. Participants will come away with actionable strategies for fostering and amplifying the connection to purpose in their own work with students, not only enhancing and invigorating our students’ 4D Experience but also gaining tools that may be applied across their professional work.
