#OTRKINDNESSTAG Updates

On Giving Tuesday OTR’s Resident Service Program rolled out its newest initiative called “Kindness Tag”, and it has been a huge success! Thanks to supporters like you our residents have been able spread kindness in very deliberate, creative, and caring ways.

Some of the Kindness Tag gifts given so far have been:
  • Residents decorating cards and making art for local school children (check out some of the art below!)
  • Automatic door openers for resident apartments
  • Residents gifting each other rolling laundry baskets, shower chairs, medical supplies, adult diapers, needed clothing, winter coats, and boots
  • One resident organized a fun movie night for the building
  • Residents came together to fulfill a much needed baby registry for a new mom at our Waukegan property
  • Purchasing big button phones for residents in need
  • Outdoor furniture for residents to enjoy
  • and MORE!
 
We see first hand the joy that Kindness Tag is bringing to our residents, so we decided to raise our goal to $125,000.00 to heighten our impact and keep the movement going all year!

Kindness Tag Art
Behind the Scenes: Real Estate
Mustacchi Manor
Construction is complete for Mustacchi Manor in Matteson, IL. We came in on budget, and are quickly renting up this building. We look forward to hosting a grand opening event this spring when the weather improves.
Kirwan Apartments
Kirwan Apartments (Waukegan) closed on financing and broke ground for construction on February 15th, 2022. Our completion target is set for January of 2023.
Hill Arboretum Apartments
Following notification of funding, initial meetings have been held with the Illinois Housing Development Authority for the Hill Arboretum rehabilitation. We plan to close on financing and begin construction in late August. Hill Arboretum will feature a generous new community area conversion at the front of the building, and it is set to be complete mid 2023.
LakeView Landing
Following approval of funding, LakeView Landing's (835 West Addison, Chicago) initial kickoff strategy meeting with the Illinois Housing Development Authority was this week. We set a target for closing on financing by year end and a completion date of 2024.

In Loving Memory of Sonny Nardulli
On January 20, 2022 at the age of 78, Sonny Nardulli passed away in the comfort of his home with his loving family at his side. Sonny was a long-time beloved board member of Over the Rainbow Association. He was always engaged, and he had tremendous energy and generosity. OTR’s President, Eric Huffman, described Sonny as one of the most likable guys he’s ever known. He had a larger-than-life presence in his work, family, and at OTR, and will be greatly missed.
