January Meeting Recap

Thank you to everyone who attended our winter meeting at the Monarch Hotel & Conference Center. It was great to see everyone

Our featured speaker was Tim Williams, Executive Director of Oregon Film, who spoke about the economic impact the film industry has on Oregon tourism ($151 million in annual film tourism revenue!) and different ways to engage with film. Tim also spoke about the film life cycle - scouting, production, and release -which he calls the “tourism annuity”, as well as Oregon-made productions, our unique Oregon Film Trail and premiere film festivals, and other strategic partnerships.

For those of you who weren’t able to attend, click here for a copy of Tim’s presentation.

Governor's Conference Baskets

As you know, the Oregon Tour & Travel Alliance (OTTA) is an independent non-profit membership organization and our primary fundraiser each year is our regional basket raffle conducted during the Oregon Governor’s Conference (being held in Portland - April 14-16, projected attendance 500+). These baskets offer tremendous exposure to those in our industry such as DMO’s, visitor information staff, hoteliers, travel writers, and tour operators –the very people you want to help spread the word about your business.

The assembled baskets typically range from $1,800-$3,000 in value, making them both well viewed and well sought after. Donations can be a gift certificate for goods or services and/or physical items such as sweatshirts, glass floats, or food/bev. items. If you are able to donate, please complete the Google Form link below.

We appreciate your support!

Birthday Gift

Each year, in celebration of Oregon’s Birthday on February 14th, OTTA sends our top 50 tour operators a birthday gift. This year’s birthday gift had a “Wake Up to the Wonder of Oregon” message and included a bag of Elk City Coffee Company coffee (Toldeo,OR), Be-Bop Biscotti (Redmond, OR), and Lover’s Leap and Kissmet teas from Steven Smith Tea (Portland, OR).  We appreciate our operators and love sharing all our state has to offer.

Board and Committee Opportunites

A great way to enhance your membership is to participate on a committee or join our Board of Directors. The Board of Directors is there to help represent you! We meet one time a month, typically via Zoom, to discuss our programs and goals as well as share updates about what is going on around the state. This is a great opportunity for you to expand your tourism knowledge, enhance your resume, and network with your peers.  If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to anyone on the Board.
