The report shows OUE’s contribution to the Institute’s goals and mission by describing our activities, highlights, trends, and key accomplishments over the past academic year.

On February 14, 2024, OUE staff and campus partners came together to commemorate the completion of the Clough Commons renovation project with an open house event.

The Georgia Tech Career Center welcomed 147 employers to campus for the All-Majors Career Fair on January 22, and 23, 2024. Over two days, there were more than 3,500 students who had the opportunity to learn about co-op, internship, and full-time career opportunities. The employers in attendance represented various industries, including automotive, aerospace, nonprofit, biomedical engineering, federal, entertainment, IT, and more.

On Friday, January 26, more than 31,800 students who applied to Georgia Tech in Early Action 2 received their admission decision. The overall admission rate for Early Action 2, which encompasses both international and U.S. students residing outside of the state of Georgia, stood at 9%. The 3,000 students admitted in this round represent all 50 states, 78 countries, and 1,800 high schools globally. 

The Undergraduate Transition Seminars program held its Spring Kickoff for Instructors and Team Leaders on January 31. This event was an opportunity to bring together instructional team members to talk, share ideas, and learn about upcoming professional development opportunities as spring semester commenced.

The 15 faculty engaged in the pilot round of the Transformative Teaching and Learning (TTL) initiative worked to carry out the Institute Strategic Plan call to "Amplify Impact". Led by CTL’s Dr. Kate Williams, the Interim Director of Transformative Teaching and Learning, these faculty revised 11 courses across the Institute to integrate experiential learning into mostly traditional course structures.

Honors Program student Kiandra Peart, a Brooklyn, NY native who graduated with a degree in mechanical engineering in December 2023, looked around campus and saw a problem: 24/7 access to healthy food for college students. What’s a savvy Tech student to do? Invent a solution, of course!

In March 2023, Jeff Mao and Tyler Ma won first place in the Georgia Tech InVenture Prize with their web-based platform SellRaze, a solution to simplify the online resale listing process. Nearly a year later, I sat down with Jeff and Tyler to talk about life since their big victory, where SellRaze is today, and how winning the competition has shaped the two former roommates as entrepreneurs and tech professionals.

Roberta Berry, Georgia Tech associate vice provost for undergraduate education, moderated a symposium following the award presentation. The symposium featured a panel of legal experts explored the theme of Leaders in “Progress and Service”: Lives in the Law.

OUE's Cassie Thomas, Camille Liverpool, and Kyle Poe join the eighth cohort of Georgia Tech's Inclusive Leaders Academy (ILA) among 66 participants from diverse backgrounds across 30 departments.  

Two OUE faculty members and twelve GT 1000 instructors from departments across campus have been recognized in the Fall 2023 Course Instructor Opinion Survey (CIOS) Honor Roll for their outstanding contributions in the classroom. The CIOS honor roll highlights not only the invaluable efforts of these instructors but also underscores the importance of student feedback in shaping the learning experience.
