OUE Staff Celebrates Winter Break | Each December, Georgia Tech’s winter break offers faculty, staff, and students an opportunity to unwind, relax, and recharge. As winter break unfolded, staff members across our dedicated OUE team took a well-deserved pause from their daily routines to create memories filled with joy, warmth, and meaningful experiences. First-Gen Student Initiatives Celebrates Fall Graduates |
On December 14, 2023, First Generation Student Initiatives (FGSI) held the First-Gen Recognition Ceremony to recognize and honor our first-gen student graduates. The Fall 2023 graduating class included over 100 undergraduate and 20 graduate students who identify as first-generation college students.

Career Center Hosts Spring All-Majors Career Fair | On January 22 & 23, the Georgia Tech Career Center hosts the Spring All-Majors Career Fair. The two-day event will host thousands of students and provide them with the opportunity to meet and connect with over 140 of our corporate and industry partners. | |

Newly Renovated Clough Commons Space is Now Open for OUE Services | The renovation project, which began in Summer 2023, was completed in December 2023. The space on the second floor of Clough Commons includes a complete redesign and renovation of the spaces for Academic Success and Advising and Experiential (ASA) and Engaged Learning (E2L). | |

Two Georgia Tech Students Awarded Churchill Scholarships | Velin Kojouharov (ME) and Shea Rathburn (CE) were honored with a prestigious Churchill Scholarship. The Churchill Scholarship selects 18 scholars annually for one year of master’s study at the University of Cambridge. Kojouharov received the Churchill Scholarship for science, mathematics, and engineering, and Rathburn received the Kanders Churchill Scholarship for science policy. | |

Honors Program Students Shine at the Capstone Design Expo | At the end of each fall and spring semester, Georgia Tech hosts the Capstone Design Expo to highlight the work of graduating seniors. Teams of students present the projects designed and built in their capstone design classes, focused on solving a problem found in industry or research. At the fall 2023 Capstone Design Expo, members of the Georgia Tech Honors Program (HP) were represented on teams that won three of the nine major awards. | |

PGPP Honors AY23-24 Astronaut Scholars | Pre-Graduate and Pre-Professional Advising (PGPP) hosted an event on January 11 to honor Georgia Tech's 2023-24 Astronaut Scholar Recipients, Jim James (CS) and Velin Kojouharov (ME). Retired NASA Astronaut Frank Culbertson served as keynote speaker for the event. | |

Rachael Greene Joins OUE as Assistant Director for Communications | Rachael Greene has been selected as OUE's Assistant Director for Communications, effective January 16. In this role, Rachael will provide leadership for all aspects of strategic communications and marketing for OUE and its reporting units. | |

Widalys Santiago Sosa Selected as Educational Outreach Manager II | Widalys Santiago Sosa has joined the Academic Success & Advising team as an Education Outreach Manager II (limited term 2 years). In this role, Widalys will serve as the Student Success Specialist for Retention & Completion Initiatives, providing individualized advising and outreach to students in high priority groups. | |

Charmaine Troy Publishes Article on First Generation Student Support | Charmaine Troy, Associate Director for First Generation Student Initiatives in Academic Success and Advising (ASA), writes about how targeted student initiatives, such as those in OUE, can enhance retention for first-generation undergraduate students. | |

Cassie Thomas selected for Inaugural Ascend Cohort | Catherine (Cassie) Thomas, Associate Director for Undergraduate Transition Programs in E2L, has been selected as part of Ascend, a new career development program for mid-career faculty developed by the Office of Faculty Professional Development. | |
