Confirmation is the sacrament of initiation during which a baptized Catholic, through prayers, imposition of hands and the anointing with chrism, receives a real and significant outpouring of the Holy Spirit that completes the initiation into Catholicism begun in Baptism. This sacrament permanently marks the soul and supports us in our on-going Christian journey.
We are enriched by the gifts of the Holy Spirit, bound more perfectly to the Church and strengthened to fulfill our obligation of more firmly witnessing for Christ in word and deed, being defenders of our faith! These spiritual gifts enable us, when properly disposed, to perceive God more clearly in His Words and in our lives to help us grow into a more loving and mature relationship with Him.
Our family Confirmation program helps middle schoolers prepare for the Sacrament of Confirmation through evangelizing (i.e., sharing the faith) and catechizing (i.e., teaching the faith). With the help of parents, sponsors and program coordinators, the Confirmation candidates can be well prepared to receive and employ the gifts and graces bestowed by the Holy Spirit.
The confirmation preparation process begins with families of 7th graders in January. Both current research and parental feedback indicate the winter of 7th grade is the optimal time for beginning the Confirmation process and receiving the sacrament in the spring of 8th grade.
We kick-off the Confirmation preparation with the students ONLY at a retreat on Saturday, Feb. 26, 2022 from noon to 3:00 pm in the Parish Dining Hall.
Our information meeting for the parents (at least one) is scheduled for Thursday evening, January 20 from 6:30pm to 8:30pm in the parish dining hall. We will introduce the Confirmation Program and discuss the details of the process as we travel this journey with your teens to full initiation into the Catholic Church.
Please download the links below and bring with you a completed Confirmation Registration Form and the Sponsor Form if you have already decided on a sponsor.
Also please bring the $60.00 resource and retreat fee with you placed in an envelope with your name on the outside.
We look forward to ministering with you to our teens as we continue nourishing our Christian values. The partnership of home and Church are the primary means by which Christian love flourishes and Christian disciples mature.
Blessings to you and your family,
Becky Ready Deacon Bob Brazier
