OUTDOOR STORAGE UNIT UPDATE

The county has scheduled all concerned citizens to meet with their Planning and Zoning Board about Commercial Self-Storage Units on June 15th at 7pm at the Warren County Admin Building! A large attendance will be IMPORTANT for us to fully communicate our desire to change this from kind of business from "Permitted" to "Conditional Use Permit". Changing this allows citizens in the area the opportunity to ask for reasonable accommodations when this kind of business is built nearby.

Why Do This?

Five years ago, when the county changed the ordinance on this, they changed it from a "Conditional Use Permit" to "Permitted". What that means is that in any land zoned "Agricultural" this kind of development can go up, without any reasonable accommodations.

Changing the zoning BACK to "Conditional Use Permit" will allow citizens to:

• Request lighting not pollute their private residence and homes
• Ensure fencing around the property is SAFE and not unsightly
• Require some kind of gravel dust mitigation
• Discuss traffic concerns
• Ask questions about crime concerns and look for solutions
• And, simply dialogue with their elected officials about anything else on their mind!

Where Can These Developments CURRENTLY Be Built?

Currently, these developments can be built anywhere in the county zoned agricultural. Its a simply permit process that requires a plan review and approval. There is no additional vetting that takes place. Below you will find the county zoning map. Everything with a "Tan Color" is within a city limit, everything else with a "White Color" is county land that is zoned Agricultural.

THATS A LOT OF LAND OPEN TO STORAGE UNITS WITHOUT VETTING!
