With 40 single-family home permits approved in June, the Town of Oro Valley concluded its 2020-’21 fiscal year June 30 having issued 497 permits for new homes, the most in any single year since 2001-’02.
  The tally exceeded the 494 permits issued in 2003-’04, and fell just shy of the 534 permits in 2001-02, according to town records.
  Highs and lows since 1993? In 1999-‘00, Oro Valley issued 1,144 permits. In 2010-’11, the count reached 47. Last year, the total was 275 permits.
  How does brisk new home construction affect the resale housing market? According to the July housing report distributed by Long Realty, the median price of a resale home sold in June was $447,500, up 20 percent from a year ago. Active inventory is down 65 percent, closings are up 40 percent, and months of inventory is less than 2 weeks.
