VIRGINIA BEACH – As construction continues on the I-64/I-264 Interchange Improvements Project, contractor crews with the Virginia Department of Transportation will perform nighttime paving operations on April 18-19 at the intersection of Witchduck Road and Grayson Road in Virginia Beach.

While the work is underway each night from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m.:

  • Alternating, single-lane closures will be in place on northbound Witchduck Road (April 18) and southbound Witchduck Road (April 19);
  • Grayson Road will be closed at the Witchduck Road intersection, with a detour in place directing motorists to utilize Witchduck Road and Bonney Road;
  • The on-ramp from northbound Witchduck Road to I-264 east will also be closed during this time, with motorists detoured to Virginia Beach Boulevard and southbound Independence Boulevard to re-access I-264 east; and
  • The off-ramp from I-264 east to Witchduck Road will be reduced to a single-lane, with left turns onto northbound Witchduck Road restricted. Off-ramp traffic traveling to northbound Witchduck Road will be detoured to Princess Anne Road, Baxter Road, Independence Boulevard, then Virginia Beach Boulevard to re-access Witchduck Road.

Motorists should stay alert and be mindful of crews working alongside the roadway. Local traffic access will be maintained throughout the duration of this work, allowing property owners and patrons to access the properties within the work zone at all times.

This work is weather-dependent and subject to change.
