OWFL: Message from the Commissioner
Hello OWFL athletes and families!

Your Board has been busy working through all the details for the upcoming season, to be able to open registration and welcome you back to an exciting 2022 season, with some rebranding and updates to share with all of you. And you may have noticed, we have a bold new look, for a bold new season!

The new logo features the silhouette of a female player bursting through the familiar but updated image of the trillium. We’re really proud of this new logo. After essentially losing out on two seasons due to the pandemic, we want to come back strong in 2022, with new updates and a new look that really speaks to the strength and power of our athletes.

The new logo is the first of several exciting updates planned as OWFL looks to continue to be a leader in developing women’s field lacrosse. Also new for the 2022 season, is the rebranding of our U19A division to the Junior Elite Women's Lacrosse (JEWL) division. In this pilot year, the JEWL division will include the top six U19 teams, 10 vs 10 play, and some new rules will be piloted in this division including shot clock, and 15 minute quarters.

As the 2022 season gets closer to kicking off, we hope that you are all enjoying the outdoors, and that you are able to get sticks in hands and stay sharp. We hope you are as excited as we are for the upcoming season!

Best,
Yvonne Harding
OWFL Commissioner

The 2022 Ontario Summer Games are being held in Mississauga, Ontario on July 21st to 24th, 2022.
The Ontario Summer Games is Ontario’s largest multi-sport event, with athletes from all regions of Ontario competing against fellow provincial athletes in their respective sports.
Ontario Summer Games are like a “mini Olympics” with opening ceremonies, parade of athletes, the athlete’s village, and of course tremendous competition in various sports. The OWFL is very proud to be a part of such a prestigious event for amateur sport, and are thrilled with the opportunity and platform it provides for our lacrosse athletes.
The Ontario Summer Games creates a phenomenal atmosphere for the participants. It is fun, competitive, and you meet so many people.  For our age-eligible players and our coaches, you will not want to miss this opportunity.
As well, this event has been an important development and competitive opportunity for athletes in preparation for National and International Competition. It is no different for women’s field lacrosse. No doubt future Provincial and National team players will come from the pool of our top 96 Ontario Summer Games athletes.
Player Commitment
  • Players selected as the final 96 will have 2 practices at times and locations TBD
  • Players will be formally introduced at OWFL U19/U15/JEWL Provincials in Oshawa on July 16, 2022

  • Players are required to remain with their teams throughout the games – including overnight
Who Should Tryout?
