A Message From
Our President
| |
Welcome to a new Chapter of Growth and Opportunities within OWIT!
| | |
Dear members, friends and colleagues,
At a time of major change in global trade, the role of women in international commerce has never been more important. I am honored, delighted and inspired to serve as President of OWIT International at such an important moment for our global community. It is a privilege to build on the strong foundation created by the presidents, leaders, and chapters who have shaped this network over the years.
I would like to extend my sincere thanks to our past 2024-2025 President Hulya Kurt and the Executive Committee for their leadership, dedication, and the progress achieved during their term. Their work has strengthened our global community and positioned OWIT for its next phase of growth. I am equally pleased to welcome our 2026-2027 Executive Committee, whose experience, energy, and commitment will help guide our shared priorities in the years ahead.
OWIT’s impact continues to grow because of the strength of its chapters and members across the world. Together, we contribute across the full trade and supply chain value cycle—as entrepreneurs, professionals, business leaders, service providers, policymakers, and advisors—bringing practical expertise that helps build more inclusive and resilient trade ecosystems.
Through our collective research, insights, and thought leadership, we help shape policy discussions, inform trade negotiations, and guide programs that expand opportunity for women in international markets and in the communities we serve.
Looking ahead, our focus will strengthen global connectivity across chapters, expanding practical trade and leadership opportunities for members, and deepening partnerships that open pathways to markets, finance, and influence. At the same time, we will continue to amplify the voices of our global network, ensuring that the experience and expertise of women in trade remain visible in the decisions and systems shaping the future of international commerce.
I look forward to working with all our chapters, members, partners, global Presidents, the new Executive Committee, OWIT IVs - International Volunteers, Followers and Supporters and as we build the next chapter of growth, collaboration, and global impact together.
Our strength is in ourselves and together we continue to move forward !
My warmest regards to you all,
President, OWIT International

OWIT statement for IWD 2026: Give to Gain: How Women Are Redefining Global Trade
OWIT is clear: when women lead in global trade, economies grow stronger.
Across markets, women are building export businesses, entering new markets, shaping policy, and driving innovation — proving that competitiveness and inclusion go hand in hand. Give to Gain is not symbolic; it is economic reality.
OWIT remains committed to advancing women’s full participation in global trade and calls on governments, industry and institutions to accelerate progress.
Women in trade are already building the future — and when they give, the world gains.

Navigating Global Trade Amid the WTO's Post-MC14 Paradigm Shift

Against that backdrop, MC14 delivered only modest results

OWIT International Global Benchmark Survey -
Your Voice Matters
Dear OWIT Members,
OWIT has launched a global survey to help strengthen how we communicate our mission, priorities, and impact across our chapters and networks. The goal is simple: to ensure that OWIT’s message is clear, consistent, and aligned with the experiences and perspectives of our members worldwide. The insights from this survey will directly inform the organization’s communications strategy moving forward. Your participation is extremely important.
The more responses we receive, the more meaningful and representative the findings will be. This will allow OWIT leadership to identify what is working well, where gaps may exist, and how we can better support our global community. The survey takes only a few minutes to complete, and your feedback will play an important role in shaping the future of OWIT’s messaging and engagement. Please take a moment to participate here: OWIT International Global Benchmark Survey
Thank you for contributing your perspective and helping strengthen OWIT’s global voice.

The statement calls for a time‑bound WTO reform process and the renewal of the e‑Commerce Moratorium, underscoring the urgency felt across the global business community for a well‑functioning multilateral trading system that meets the realities of the 21st century.

UK - CANADA TRADE CORRIDORS
The latest OWIT UK–Canada Trade Corridors webinar held early in May 2026, brought together government, industry and trade leaders from both sides of the Atlantic to explore the growing opportunities — and increasing complexities — shaping UK–Canada trade. Speakers from both the UK and Canadian governments highlighted the strength of the UK–Canada trading relationship, built around innovation, advanced manufacturing, technology and services. The discussion focused on trusted digital trade corridors, regulatory alignment, cyber resilience and secure supply chains as increasingly important enablers of cross-border trade. The session also explored the growing role of standards, certification and digital trust, particularly for SMEs operating across cyber security, telecommunications, satellite technologies and digital services.
A strong theme was collaboration — across governments, business ecosystems and international trade networks — reinforcing the importance of practical support, market knowledge and trusted partnerships in helping businesses scale internationally.
The webinar forms part of OWIT UK’s wider Trade Corridors initiative, designed to strengthen international connectivity and create practical pathways into global markets for businesses and professionals across the OWIT network.
Featured speakers included:
Debbie Goodleff - Head of Trade - Defence, Security and Space, Department for Business and Trade; British High Commission
Jennifer Kay - First Secretary and Trade Commissioner, High Commission of Canada, London
Dianna Pieper, MSc. - Founder & CEO, Innovus Techne
Joanna Davies - Managing Director, POLARIS ADVANTAGE Inc.
Elsie Etienne - VP- OWIT UK
Nathalie V Bradbury - President, OWIT-Ottawa
Noreen Burroughes Cesareo MBE FRSA President, OWIT UK; OWIT International.

As President Noreen said in her opening speech, OWIT members are very present in trade. We are trading. The question is no longer just focussed on whether women can participate in global trade but whether they are able to do so in a way that they can succeed and scale up. The architecture - how trade is structured around them — is what matters, and whether it is set up to allow them to scale.
This is not a participation gap. It is an architecture gap.
