Oak Lawn CHS - there's an app for that!

As part of our ongoing commitment to communicate with stakeholders, OLCHS partnered with SchoolMessenger on the development of our very own app. Download the app now for your smartphone or smartdevice using these links or search for the app by name, Oak Lawn CHS - in the Apple App Store and Google Play for Android.

The app is designed to provide easy access to school and district information including calendars, sports schedules, notifications, social media, and more. And this is just the beginning. Based on your feedback we envision continuing to build out the app to meet future needs. Download the app and be sure to tell others to do the same!

Email Assistant Principal Mr. McCurdy at [email protected] to suggest content that should be added to make the app more useful.  <<read more>>

OLCHS Inducts 59 Students Into the National Honor Society

This past semester, fifty-nine students were inducted into the National Honor Society. The ceremony was conducted by the Chapter President David Oliver, Vice-president Jason Snyder, Corresponding Secretary Emily Salomone, Recording Secretary Kyle Hayes, and Treasurers Shelby Trybula and Jacob Allen. Superintendent/Principal Michael Riordan and Chapter Advisor Jessica Nickless presented the awards.

OLCHS Helps Host a Very Special Holiday Party

Over thirty members of Student Council and National Honor Society helped host a very special holiday party for the Keyser Family Pediatric Cancer Center patients and their families.

Student volunteers, all dressed as Spartan Elves in red and green, assisted with food service, craft tables, and mingling. Additional entertainment was provided by CMT Productions as DJ, Tom Repetny as photobooth operator, as well as numerous professional photographers on hand to take free portraits for families. The highlight of the evening was the arrival of Santa himself who read a story to the children, took photos, and listened to holiday wishes before returning to the North Pole.

Leann Kooyenga, a registered nurse at Hope Children's Hospital commented, "I just can't say enough good things about the way the students helped at the party and made it a very special evening for all the families...The party was a huge success and I was extremely impressed with the attitudes, enthusiasm, willingness, and politeness that these students exhibited. They are to be commended for all that they did."

The Keyser Family Pediatric Cancer Center at Advocate Hope Children's Hospital in Oak Lawn is an 8,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art facility developed to deliver high quality outpatient care in a comfortable and healing environment. The physicians and team there are dedicated to the mission of treating all children with pediatric cancer and hematologic diseases with the goal of cure. The Keyser Center assures that all children, their families and loved ones are cared for from the moment they enter Hope Hospital and throughout the transition to adult medical care. OLCHS event organizers were Brian Clifton, Jessica Nickless, and Jennifer Sidlow.  <<read more>>
