ORHS Community Member,

I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving break and that your December is off to a great start!

We have three full weeks of instruction remaining in both the 2023-2024 second quarter and for the first semester. Student progress reports for the first quarter are now available online via Skyward. If you have yet to review your student's grades with them, please do so as soon as possible.

While December is a short month (the last day of school for the calendar year is Friday, Dec. 22), the upcoming three weeks are among the busiest we have. As you look over this edition, please take special note of the testing calendar as those are critical attendance dates. We also have two major events early this week: 1) our Winter Showcase on Tuesday evening which is absolutely a performance you and your family do not want to miss; and 2) our final School Advisory Council (SAC) meeting of 2023 on Thursday. Kindly remember that all members of our Oak Ridge community are encouraged to attend our SAC meetings. We greatly appreciate any feedback and suggestions during the meetings as part of our ongoing school improvement efforts.

Thank you for reading.

Student attendance returned to a more normal level early this week after plunging -22 points on the Friday just ahead of the Thanksgiving break:
OCPS News
Superintendent's Weekly Message ("Connectedness"):
Students being connected at school can make a big impact on how successful they are academically, socially, and mentally. On this week's "Mondays with Maria," Dr. Vazquez is joined by two Boone High School seniors to talk about the barriers some students face when it comes to participating in school events and how they are working to help more students get involved.
Happy Birthday OCPS!
"Today, and every day, is a great day to be a Pioneer!"
