Dr. Edwina Maksym
If there’s anyone who knows Oakcrest well, it’s Dean of Studies, Dr. Edwina Maksym. Edwina has been at Oakcrest from its first years. Since then, the school has moved twice, exponentially expanded its student body, built a beautiful new campus, added to its curriculum and so much more. During that time, Edwina has remained an integral and cherished member of the Oakcrest community.

Thank You Pinky!
World-class dancer. Actress. Choreographer. All of these words describe Pinky Puno, who choreographed and directed amazing original variety shows at Oakcrest in the 1980s and 90s. Thanks to her talent and dedication, many Oakcrest students got the chance take their love of the arts to new heights on stage.


Oakcrest Makes History at Virginia Science Olympiad
Oakcrest sent the first and only all-girls team to compete at the Virginia State Science Olympiad on March 23. Dr. Kat Hussmann received the Virginia Science Olympiad Coach of the Year Award and sophomores Annaliese Anderson and Katiebelle Thompson finished 5th in science-caching.

"The Second Greatest Story Ever Told"
Classical languages teacher Paula Rondon-Burgos discusses the life of Marcus Tullius Cicero, a first-century B.C. Roman statesman and how he provides a much-needed mirror for our times, one which reflects back the truth of the human person.

Pied Beauty
On the evening of February 8th, the Oakcrest Concert Chorus offered a beautiful evening of sacred music in their first full-length concert at the Cathedral of Saint Thomas More. The concert was directed by Anne Miller and accompanied by Neil Weston on organ. It included the premiere of a setting of  Pied Beauty by Arnold Friedman, Pergolesi's  Stabat Mater  and Arnesen's  Magnificat . Featured singers included soprano Grace Gilday '09 and mezzo soprano Madelyn Salazar.

Pied Beauty features an original composition by Arnold Friedman. Mr. Friedman composed the piece after hearing Oakcrest Chorus performing in Assisi during the 2018 pilgrimage to Rome.
