On the evening of February 8th, the Oakcrest Concert Chorus offered a beautiful evening of sacred music in their first full-length concert at the Cathedral of Saint Thomas More. The concert was directed by Anne Miller and accompanied by Neil Weston on organ. It included the premiere of a setting of
Pied Beauty
by Arnold Friedman, Pergolesi's
Stabat Mater
and Arnesen's
Magnificat
. Featured singers included soprano Grace Gilday '09 and mezzo soprano Madelyn Salazar.
Pied Beauty features an original composition by Arnold Friedman. Mr. Friedman composed the piece after hearing Oakcrest Chorus performing in Assisi during the 2018 pilgrimage to Rome.
