Greetings from

Maritere (Gramatges '91) Crum

 Alumnae Relations Coordinator

Dear Oakies,

As we come off of Alumnae Week and head into Easter, you will find this issue of OakLink to be an abbreviated one; a full issue will

return in April.

March kicked-off with a beautiful Reunion Brunch at Yuma for all of our alumnae from the Classes of 1980-2005 and the faculty and staff that taught them. It was so fun being back in the old building, sharing memories and rekindling friendships! Next year we hope to offer the same opportunity at Balls Hill; stay tuned for more details.

We ended the month with a fabulous Alumnae Week! Thank you to: all who made donations towards our Day of Service and Spring day of Giving; our Class Captains that joined Head of School, Christie Keuchel for a Meet and Greet; all of our alumnae parents from the classes of 2020-2023 who gathered to assemble care packages for their daughters away at college; our alumnae who competed on Trivia Night; and all of the families that joined us for the Meditation, Stations of the Cross and dinner on Friday night. It was a busy week filled with joy!! We look forward to seeing you all in

May for our Alumnae Mother-Daughter

Mass and Brunch.

May you all have a Blessed Easter,

Maritere

Oakies in Action

Yuma Social

On March 9th, thirty-nine alumnae and former stacutly gathered at 4101 Yuma Street for a Reunion Brunch complete with tours of the old building. Although much has changed since Oakcrest School occupied the building, much is still the same! Tours included the "forbidden" third floor, the "Deck" and the Zoo lunchroom. We will return to Yuma for another Reunion in 2026. Enjoy the video highlighting this year's event.

In 2025 we plan to offer our alumnae from the classes of 2001-2017 the opportunity for a Balls Hill Reunion. Take the survey and let us know your thoughts.

Alumnae Week 2024

Day of Service

Thank you to all of our alumnae, parents of alumnae and current Oakies who supported our annual Day of Service. A Woman's Choice Center in Falls Church is grateful for all of the items donated off of the baby registry and the burp cloths we sewed in person. Thank you to Sheila Hill '16, Associate Director at A Woman's Choice Falls Church Center for allowing us the opportunity to serve. All alumnae who attended the Day of Service received the new alumna t-shirt.

Thank you to all of our alumnae that made a donation on our Spring Day of Giving. We were able to raise $1,413.80 for future Oakies and thereby locked in an additional $5000 from a generous alumnae parent. There is still time to donate and help us reach this year's alumnae goal. We are just $11,000 from our $30,000 goal. Every dollar donated benefits the next generation of Oakies.

Class Captain Meet and Greet

Hosted by alumna and Class Captain, Edith Barvick '19, twelve of our current Class Captains joined Head of School, Christie Keuchel for a brief welcome followed by an evening of getting to know each other and sharing memories. Edith gathered recipes from each of the participating Class Captains and produced a lovely recipe book which she shared with all in attendance. Thank you, Edith! Congratulations to Kateri Castillo '21 for winning the evening raffle; your alumna t-shirt is on the way!

Trivia Night

For the first time, alumnae gathered in-person for our annual Alumnae Trivia Night. Tara (Hill '11) Van Zoeren hosted the event at Caddie's in Bethesda. Alumnae from the classes of 2011, 2012, 2016, and 2018 gathered for a competitive evening with trivia questions in various categories, including: Women in Pop Culture, Women in History, Oakcrest History, and "You should have learned this at Oakcrest." The winning team: Sheila Hill '16, Katie (McNeish '16) Hill and Meg Gargulinski '11 each received a $25 Amazon gift card. Congratulations, ladies!

Meditation, Stations of the Cross and Dinner

To close out Alumnae Week, Oakcrest Chaplain, Fr. Gerry Kolf, offered confessions and led a beautiful Lenten Meditation for our community. Richard Crum, husband of alumna, Maritere (Gramatges '91) Crum led the Stations of the Cross and the evening ended with a delicious Lenten-friendly meal.

On Wednesday, March 20, parents of alumnae from the classes of 2020, 2021, 2022 and 2023 gathered for a fun of evening of wine, cheese, and socializing while putting together care packages and writing notes for their daughters away at college.
