Welcome Back Oakies!
This year promises to be another fantastic year filled with alumnae events! We kicked off September with a fabulous Homecoming Weekend. We welcomed back Oakies from a variety of graduating classes including an alumna from the very first
graduating class!
Class Captains were treated to a lovely breakfast on Saturday morning and were able to take home a sweet, little succulent plant as a token of our appreciation for all they do to keep their classes connected.
The Alumnae luncheon was filled with lots of yearbook skimming, laughter, hilarious stories and memories experienced during our varied times at Oakcrest. Twenty-two alumnae and their families joined us for the beautiful Founder’s Day Mass and the Blessing of the Holy Family Painting that is so magnificently displayed in our Chapel. As is tradition, each alumna processed into the chapel with red roses and placed them before the statue of our Lady of Oakcrest. Oakies and red roses are so reminiscent of our Graduation Day- a tradition that bonds us together regardless of the year or campus from which we graduated!
Our reunion classes were honored with a fabulous reception that featured Reunion Class display boards showcasing their Senior portraits and an array of pictures from their years at Oakcrest. Each alumna received an individually wrapped gift for the milestone year they were celebrating. Additionally, all alumnae and their families were able to enjoy our newly named Oakie Cocktail (Virtus et Vocatus) and Mocktail (Plaid Punch).
The Homecoming events culminated with the drawing of a winner for the Alumna Yeti cooler, which proved to be quite the sought-after item. Congratulations to Jacqueline (Livaudais) Callahan ’06 for being this year’s winner! Rest assured that we will offer another one for next year’s raffle! We look forward to celebrating next year’s Reunion classes during Homecoming Weekend!
